I have just started playing fallout NV and upon looking at the commands i see that the left shift is used to run. Upon hitting this key my character slows down. Is there anything that can be done to fix this problem because there is a lot of walking in this game and i would like to be able to move a little faster.

If thats the case then you are already running, Hitting shift makes you walk.

Run is by default on, so you are always running, unless you press shift in which case you will walk. Caps Lock toggles run on and off, so you will walk unless holding the shift key if you press caps lock.

Put you're gun/hands away. Hold the reload key to do this.

(also note you can't run if you have exceeded your carry weight)
