Alienware M11xR2 Can barely run this game

My rig:

i5core
4gb ddr3 ram
geforce gt 335m 1GB using optimus

My system plays fallout3 on highest as well as 50+ steam games developed within the last year. The frame-rate of Fallout NV is so bad it's unplayable unless I walk my character into a small room by himself, even on lowest settings. I see the fix on the forums however that will not work for me, due to the optimus looping problem.

What is Bethesda doing to patch this problem? Anyone else with an alien ware m11xr2 fix the issue?

My system plays fallout3 on highest as well as 50+ steam games developed within the last year. The frame-rate of Fallout NV is so bad it's unplayable unless I walk my character into a small room by himself, even on lowest settings. I see the fix on the forums however that will not work for me, due to the optimus looping problem.

What is Bethesda doing to patch this problem? Anyone else with an alien ware m11xr2 fix the issue?

Hi man. I have the EXACT same rig and the same problem. (M11xR2 w/ i5)
Here is a temporary and irritating fix for the Optimus looping problem (after you have put in that new dll)

To be open with you: I have not tested this out yet... but will as soon as I can get home from work. Seems to work for other Optimus folks though, including another R2 user.

But it is allegedly an annoying fix, given the steps involved... they really really need to fix this formally. This might allow you to enjoy the game until that happens though. Will confirm once I get home.

I also have the same laptop (i7 core, however) and this fix did wonders for me. I was playing on the lowest possible settings and still experiencing lag. Now I can play on ultra-high just fine. I do however disable trees, grass, and leaves. Perhaps it's just me but I don't enjoy the foliage enough for the performance that it costs.

What are your settings for anti-aliasing and anti-isotropic filtering?
Any idea what type of FPS you are getting?

I am really looking forward to trying this fix when I get home. Without the fix, I got through three quests in Goodsprings at 10-20 FPS... but once I got to a part where you have to fight like 6 NPCs, it was like 4-6 FPS and wholly unplayable. I found out about the DLL fix yesterday, and was all excited to try it when I got home... only to discover that it wouldn't work with Optimus due to the looping thing. I agree with the poster.... Of course we have. All of us have tried killing all of our settings to no avail whatsoever. This is apparently not isolated to us, either. Check my link. All of us have the FPS problem in or around NPCs , and we can't use the DLL fix b/c it doesn't work with Optimus without a rather crazy work-around.

Do you have an M11x R2? I have yet to hear from a single user of the machine that has either a.) not had the slowdown problem b.) gotten past it without resorting to the aforementioned workaround.
If you have, do tell.

Hi everyone,

Can confirm now that AtomicSabotage's fix (see my link earlier in this thread) does work for me. Kind of annoying, but better than not playing.
Can't do Ultra settings though... and still drop to under 20 FPS at some points outside.

M11x R2 w/ Optimus
i5, 4GB RAM
