Fallout RTS

Don't you think it would be cool to have a Fallout RTS were you get a settlement and you have to build it up and make scav teams go find stuff and all that so what are your opinions.

I'd go for that. (And in response to Splinter Cell agent, I think the idea was for something a bit larger in scale than what you found in Tactics. And considering that I played that game in turn-based mode, I didn't personally find much of an RTS in that game to begin with...)

I've said before that I think there's lots of room in the franchise for a number of interesting spin-offs; and I think a large-scale RTS would be a very good fit. Maybe almost something akin to Civilization (in terms of the 4x gameplay - not so much as a direct copy of any of those games, but with some different textures and unit names...)

But I think it might make for a fun game: starting out with a small band of people huddled together for protection; sending out scav parties for salvage and supplies, curtailing the excess supplies into building up your small settlement, rercruiting (or even conscripting) more people into your town, building it up and researching improvements. Fighting other settlements for resources and balancing that need for expansion with defending yourselves against common enemies like Supermutants and mutant creatures, etc.

Could make for a very interesting game, I always thought.

I do recall playing a Total Conversion post-apoc mod for Civ4, and while it wasn't set in the Fallout universe, it was still pretty well-done and interesting to play. Of course the name escapes me at the moment, but I'll try to refresh my memory.

Looks like there was indeed a Fallout TC for Civ3, but I wouldn't know about that since I didn't like the game that much http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=199196

I think a SimCity kind of game would be more appropriate actually.
Both a RTS or a Civ clone sound inappropriate to me because they are of much larger scale.
The Fallout world has small settlements scattered on a huge wasteland -- no large armies (that a RTS would require) nor nations with potentially 100s of large cities (that a Civ clone would require).

In a sim city clone though, you could start with a few people trying to settle in a junkyard and slowly building up their community, while trying to defend themselves from raiders etc..
You could start with a Junktown and develop it into an NCR type of city or a New Reno one etc.

Civ would actually work. You'd have to limit settlement size based on other conditions, so early in the game you make a small area then others. You could make a small fortified base in a highly contested area near resources so you can mine them safely. Open trade/caravan routes with other settlements. Use diplomacy tactics (or espionage/extortion/etc.) on NPC settlements and eventually unify the entire wasteland area. All the while you have other threats such as raider raiding your towns, maybe help an NPC town with their raids and get their loyalty.. and you can have random deathclaw attacks on caravans so you need researched and equipped guards to make them safer but costing you more to fund them. You could have a BOS outpost as well that lets you cash in technology you acquire from side missions for more technology, like being able to research your own power armor/laser weapon manufacturing or repair facilities enabling you to improve your own forces. Possibilities are endless to how you could do it.

More of a blend of SimCity and Civ would be ideal. You could build your own towns how you like, but you'd have to build many of them and grow them etc.

It's never going to happen, not with Bethesda making it anyway.. but it's fun to think about!

A Civ-like game would distance you too much. Since settlements start small and people are a rare commodity it would be more appropriate that you can see individual members. Perhaps something like age of empires is more fitting.

I'd just like to see such a game made, Fallout or not. A post-apocalyptic resettlement game.

I would like a game where you and a few other members of a town you were bannished from was left in a empty wasteland this is were the game begins. You and you're other townpeople can scour ruins, empty lands, small neibourhoods, water holes ect ect to find a good place to set up camp. Once that has been done you need to begin construction shacks for people to live in and then other buildings like medical bay and others, but if you set up camp in a city ruin or other places with old buildings you can move into them and create the use and look.
Once you have completed the move and building of the town, you can begin to scavage the wastes by sending out teams of people, mutants and other creatures would attack at certain times. Then you can fast forward it and watch the town blossom and more people will come to it and after a while you can begin to improve.

As long as it wasn't combat based. I would rather have that than an MMORPG.

It would be interesting.
There would have to be diplomacy and trade, scavenging, hunting, fighting. Choosing what you base your economy on and what kind of things you allow and won't allow inside the walls.
