Slaving after the quest

Post » Tue Aug 10, 2010 7:03 am

I've read up on the mezer with the fail chance and all that and how some quest NPC's can't be slaved, but even after collaring a nameless '___ town resident', I get told my slaved died every time and I have to get a new collar. I usually load back to retry, do I have no choice but to have the first slave I send on my own time die? Should I sleep for some hours before fast traveling to falls? It was already a little bit of a let down seeing so many unimportant characters that just happen to have a name are immune to slavery, now I can't even get the pay out for a nameless npc.

Any tips, tricks, lists, or info on doing some fun slaving (I already used search btw)? I already stalk the stairwell of rivet city and bathrooms of megaton, etc. Getting victims alone isn't a problem. Getting it to actually work, is.

Its really just pure luck in regards to whether or not your slave makes it to paradise falls, I've heard though that if you pocket some decent armor on them or a better weapon (not too good though because then the slave wouldn't be worth it) then they have a better chance of making it to Paradise Falls. Technically though if you reload the save and re-mezz the person then its the same amount of chance each time, its just you had a string of bad luck.

As for tips, there is one that I can offer you but its often been accused of being somewhat of an "exploit." If you succesfully mezz a person and send them off to paradise falls, and then immediately wait 3 or more hours, you won't be attacked by anyone and this allows you to enslave people even out in the open in Megaton.

Ah, figures. I thought it might work that way but the uncertainty of if I'm bugged or this or that was [censored], so now I know. Thanks.

On a happy note, I finally got a slave to paradise falls clean :)

Fast-traveling to Paradise Falls immediately after collaring a slave usually gets them there alive and you get your money quicker. If you don't want to travel right there, try not to mess with your slaves' inventory. Taking stuff from them seems to increase the chance of them dying.

This. I leave them their weapons and ammo and all gear, unless there is something in there that is special... Fast Travel immediately after snagging a slave. If I'm overencumbered, I will even give them an extra set of armor (not power armor) to survive the trip. I'd say with this method, I have about a 80% success rate.

Interesting. Yeah my first successful capture I didn't mess with their gear since I didn't really care to look that time. Good thing to know.

gah, just when I think I understand, tons of tries show tenpenny (ghoul) residents only ever taking the 1 damage and turning hostile. I haven't lucked out and seen one of them explode either. These guys are immune?

edit: other town's folk of no consequence are also seemingly immune..

another good tip, (if your not Fast-Traveling) is to enter a interior cell, if you enslave them in the wasteland, and wait a while. If you enslave them in an interior cell like Megaton, stay there for a while, this will also increase the odds of them making it to Paradise Falls
