Which FIRST - Paradise Falls or The Pitt?

I took a break from the game for many months and just got back into it -- I did the Head of State quest and eventually sided with the slaves. I would like to play neutral/good, so I am thinking my guy's view is he has no problem with slavery per se (he's a product of the tough world he lives in), only the enslavement of innocents -- his take is, enslaving bad guys is no worse, and arguably better, than killing them. Enslaving raiders and selling them is also is a good way to keep his karma from getting too high.

Little Lamplight is next on my main quest, so I am wondering if I should go there and on to Paradise Falls, or go to The Pitt before that. I know it can be done either way, but I am wondering if the game designers made the plot make more sense one way than the other. I am considering the idea that my character's story would make more sense if he went to The "morally ambiguous" Pitt first and sided with the slavers there as a necessary evil, and thus returns and has no problem getting along with Paradise Falls.

Just curious what people's takes are on roleplaying slavery and playing the game so the storyline makes sense.

Well, as you said The Pitt is more morally ambiguous. Paradise Falls is much more of a business, every single slaver there treats the slaves like cattle, and Eulogy Jones is no better. If you go and enslave bad guys, they still get sent to Paradise Falls, where they're treated like crap with no hope of ever being freed. The Pitt, on the other hand, not only offers a way for slaves to earn their freedom, but Ashur actually has good intentions for the slaves (well, less evil than Jones' intentions anyway). If you want to roleplay a good guy, it'd be hard to justify cooperating with Paradise Falls, no matter if you visit it before or after The Pitt, but you could always pretend that your slaves get sent to The Pitt instead. You could also never actually step foot into Paradise Falls and just pretend that your character has no idea what goes on there, just assuming it's like The Pitt.

I thought the story was, there aren't many slaves in the CW because Paradise Falls ships them up to The Pitt. I'm not trying to play a goodie-goodie with a white hat, he's more of a Mad Max guy who doesn't really give much of a damn about anyone but if caught in a bind he will do the right thing. So, my thinking is he sees slavers abducting innocent people for slavery as wrong, but if a raider gets a slave collar put on his neck and put to work, it's as valid a form of justice as anything else you'll see in the Fallout world. If he sees The Pitt first and discovers it is more like a penal colony, he can view PF as just middlemen. He'll free the innocent slaves, shoot the slavers he finds in the wasteland, but not see the institution itself as inherently evil, particularly if it makes him money sending criminals to The Pitt.

Well in that case, it'd probably make more sense for you to visit Paradise Falls first, but not do any quests, instead going to see The Pitt. That way your character can compare the relatively tiny slaver base of Paradise Falls to the much larger settlement of The Pitt, and once you finish The Pitt your character can think about what he's seen and deal with the slavers in Paradise Falls appropriately.

I'd probably do The Pitt first. Could go either way on the plot line thing, but I'd go to The Pitt to get the Perforator. Having that silenced assault rifle has always been a priority of mine. It is a pain to get, but such a nice weapon to have.

Yeah I had my eye on the Perforator as well -- I was thinking of giving it to Charon so he can attack at long range without drawing attention and he doesn't care about AP cost or durability -- and give him a shotgun for closer range lethality. And there's the Infiltrator, which I could use for blowing up cars and shooting wandering animals without giving myself away. I was also considering the merits of tribal armor vs. what's available in the CW -- I don't really like outfitting my team in Enclave stuff.

I hated searching all over for those ingots, but having silenced assault rifles made it all worthwhile. Sure does make future encounters a lot more fun for a stealthy character.
