Delaying

Post » Fri Aug 13, 2010 12:35 am

This delaying already crushed my patience twice. My fear is Splash Damage not announcing a release date. All games that will be released till May are already announced. every game, but Brink. Maybe their aiming at April....I′m not hoping for it. :(

Delaying is never a bad thing. You don't want its release to be like BC2's do you?

What do you mean by "to be like BC2"

EDIT:

BTW RayAntG KZ3 might not be as good as it looks, its unbalanced, crappy and has many flaws that make me not mind brinks delays at all. i read alot of bad things about KZ3 so i suggest waiting a few days after release because KZ3 has greatly disapointed me.

Likely, my way of thinking won't apply to BRINK. But if it does, I can say "Told ya so." ;)
BRINK presumably releases at the same time like other big games (e.g. Crysis 2), so they did not push it back for competition-reasons.

Generally speaking, though, delays do almost always hurt the popularity of a game; especially a new franchise.

It hurts a lot less then releasing a game with broken gameplay.
I know where you're coming from, I do, (I'm pessimistic by nature) I just don't quite agree with the angle you're coming at when there's a lot of evidence that points to the game being good.

Oh yeah deff. I don't have it pre-ordered but a couple of my buddies do.....so I'll be able to get enough time trying it out before I make a decision.

BC2 was released as a broken game, and to this day still has numerous issues that remain broken. Horrible hit registration, various bugs, gameplay issues, CRASHING TO DESKTOP is still an annoying issue, and a game breaking one. BC2 was released in beta state, and to this day, is still in a beta state. DICE really is clueless, prob the worst big developer in the world right now. I hope EA gives the Battlefield franchise to a competent developer for it's future games.

Too bad though, if they would've listen to me could've helped them a lot, would do the same for BRINK, but SD does not seem like the ramshamble company DICE is/

I'm not as polarized as the poll options allow...

I think if they need to delay to improve functionality and quash bugs, then yes, I'm all for a delay.

If they are delaying for some sort of perfect balance, I'd say give us a release date and give yourself a deadline. Their numbers/statistics are going to be a lot more plentiful with a ton of people playing, if they keep an eye on what is (or is thought to be) overpowered, they can tweak it.

I really just want a release date that is reasonably solid.

What system are you playing on? ps3 is fine, i agree there are a bunch of bugs with the occasional WTF HAPPEND moment like randomly leaving the game or blowing up and teamkilling everyone when you land a helicopter even when you didnt hit anything, but i rarly get problems, and i never noticed hit registration problems before.

Didn't DICE make Battlefield 2 as well, which is considered the holy grail of large scale combat games?

I rather wait six months extra for a good game that I can play for a lot of time, rather than getting it sooner and being pissed because it doesn't work as it should. I don't mind bugs, I do mind major gameplay flaws. The last "Wolfenstein" was a great example of this.

A great game is only delayed until it's released.

A bad game is bad forever.

Agreed with above, I don't like it but if its a better game for it I can wait, I have waited long enough a little more will only likely crush my spirit.

Indeed, let us wait until its near perfect and only minor bugs/balance issues remain so it can be patched after game release

I'd be fine with waiting for them to iron everything out if they would at least post some more gameplay videos.

He's probably playing on the PC, at which it is a [censored] mess.
Should've stayed console only, the Bad company sub-series.

I trust Splash Damage to release a playable game with possibly minor bugs, I haven`t had enough experience with Bethesda to know whether they will follow through with the support needed, let`s hope so
Some of the delays have been fine tuning, some network issues with PS3 and some are release timing. Knowing SD, they will have used all the time wisely.

Obviously if the game is going to become better, delay all the way.

there are so many good games coming out this year that I do not mind if one or two of them get delayed, as long as the end product is good and they do a good job.
I'd pick a polished game over a hastily made game any day, even if I had to wait 10 times longer for the polished game. because chances are I will be playing that polished
game waaaay more than the hastily made one.

There making a cod 8? i never even knew there was a cod 5, last numbered call lf duty was call of duty 4, and id be surprised if they would make another, its the same game everytime just a diffrent era, cod is dying, also ithought halo reach was the last game there making.

aside from that i want them to delay brink if it means a better game. i want a perfected game not some [censored]t cod reproduction, but they should fget a beta out soon like mabey next month? :D

and I thought I was the only one who was OCD about people calling it CoD 5,6,7, and 8.

Anyways I wouldn't mind if they pushed it back a LITTLE further but if it isn't released by July, I'll probably be a little pissed.
