accuracy perks useless?

Post » Sat Aug 14, 2010 2:56 am

was wondering if accuracy perks (ignoring the whole problem with vats-specific perks) are useless like the one trait (forgot it's name - opposite of fast shot) ask from what ive understood from fo3 and hte like you'll eventually hit 95% hit acc which would make the accuracy of the gun moot - doubly so considering if your a sniper-like character you can do a lot of your shooting outside of vats range (does this kind of shooting even have accuracy as such?)

also on a side note, do we have a firm answer on if perception increases accuracy or not?

Perks that improve accuracy do work. May not seem noticeable, but you'll eventually start to see yourself getting "luckier" hits.

Perception doesn't affect your accuracy with weapons, all it does is show you where far-away enemies are, and gives you a higher "Sneak" attribute.

Are we sure about that though? Because when you're choosing your SPECIAL points at the beginning, it does say that Perception affects accuracy, which is why I put more points into it than I did in FO3. Now, it says nothing about accuracy if you look at it in your pip-boy or when adding through the Intense Training Perk, but I'm dead certain that it did say it affected accuracy when you're choosing at the very beginning of the game.

I hope it works. I've got so many stacked that if I'm below 95% accuracy on headshots, there better be an obstruction.

The "Trigger Discipline" trait most definitely does work both in, and more importantly out of, VATS. Similar perks should work just as advertised.

Out of VATS, the Accuracy traits and perks have as much, if not a more noticeable improvement, than in VATS. They alter the Stagger of the weapon, the amount any given round can stray from the crosshair. This means more hits and utility at medium to long range for High Rate Of Fire weapons. For Snipers it means even less movement/sway when lining up at 1500 meter shot.
A Dev posted something about this a few weeks ago in a thread about traits.

There's a point where VATS accuracy is greatly reduced, even though it's nowhere close to the weapon's max effective range. Accuracy perks greatly increase that range. They also help your chances of hitting something like the enemy's weapon and such.

Achieving 95% chance to hit doesn't matter. The range you do so at, however, does.
