Narrvaro Enclave Patrol help

Post » Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:21 pm

I'm so close to throwing my computer out the window. Is there any way to disable the enclave patrol/ random events so I can get to narrvaro? I'll use any cheats and glitches at this point.

Invenst points into outdoorsmen so you get the option to avoid the encounter? Or run away?

Trust me I've tried running away, literally about 47 times.

At what level are you right now? If you have the possibility, get yourself some Power Armor before going to Navarro. As Andaius said, Outdoorsman is a good skill to avoid random encounters (if it's high enough, you can literally choose whether or not you want the indicated encounter), besides that I think it determines your placement in relation to your enemies at the start of the encounter. High perception helps as well for placement I believe. And with any luck (and high Perception, Small guns and other ranged weapon skills) you might be able to critically shoot them in the eyes or cripple their arms.

I'm currently level 5, I basically skip all of the side quests in order to find the GECK. Still have yet to find vault 15, but found San Francisco. Sorry about my first post, I never use cheats (besides the contra code), and I never get angry over video games. I just exaggerated the whole post. I've played the first game when it was launched 12 years ago. This is my first time playing number 2. Does the car get rid of random events? Where can I find it?

No it doesn't get ride of random encounters however using it will boot you to the world map so it makes running away alot easier. You have to find parts to fix it up and have some cash too. why are you skipping al lthe good stuff to get the geck so fast?

If you click on your current location on the world map it'll go to a generic wasteland where you'll be able to access inventory, save, etc., use that to save and then go some short distance (less than one grid square is what I do,) then save again. Load your previous save every time you get killed by the Enclave and repeat.

Backtrack. Get some money (by looting items from killed enemies from random encounters for instance, which is also a good way of earning some experience you really could use at this point), do some sidequests, most of them don't take that long and keep you inside of the town. You can get the car in the Den, but to actually use it you need a part that's over in Gecko. To get that part, you'll have to talk to the woman in maintenance in Vault City and get her the items she needs. Really, just doing some small sidequests really helps a lot. After you find enough money and items, go gear up, San Francisco would probably be best. Give yourself and possibly your companions some decent armor and weapons, and you might even be able to kill the troops on your way.

If it's still not working, countrybluegrass's idea is a good one, though it does get tedious.

Move only a bit each time, then enter the wasteland map, save, go to world map again and repeat. If you get Enclave encounter, just load your previous save.

Ideally one should avoid the Enclave until capable of surviving an encounter with them... Navarro is full of them.

It's best to level up a bit and get some good gear (if you are looking to run away good armor (against energy weapons) is a must).
Do some quests, find a few places, fight a few random encounters.

As soon as the game starts loading an encounter, start hitting "A", that will get you into the combat mode right away. Use all of you APs to run to the nearest exit grid. As soon as your turn is over, the round will end and the game will exit the combat mode. It should go right back into it, with enclave patrol attacking you, however if you start pressing "A" again, as soon as the end of a fight animation starts(end turn buttons slide away), you should be able to reenter combat mode with full APs and first turn.

SO basically, you start combat, run away, end combat, restart right away, run, stop, restart. Repeat as needed

Hmmm... Never use cheats, but are willing to skip most of the game for an advantage...

Seriously, play it in order, that encounter is hard for a reason.

It's not skipping the game, it doesn't somehow make the rest of the game inaccessible. It's a high-risk, high-reward decision. And you must never have run into an Enclave patrol if you think some wimpy metal armor or combat armor is going to protect you from plasma, pulse and gauss fire. Even with APA I still run like hell from Enclave patrols.

They aren't invincible - combat armor is more than enough if you're packing. Offense being the best defense and all - even the Enclave quickly turn to mincemeat after a few bursts with the Bozar.

No, Its Metagaming - using player knowledge, not character knowledge. Its not playing the game the way its intended to be, making other areas in the game not play at the same level as they should

If the player wants to start off in a random direction and justify finding locations (like Navarro), they could roll a 12 sided die and use the clock face as directions (Roll a 7 or 8... run off towards Navarro).

Ah...trying a Navarro run, ay? What direction are you coming from? I found it easier to approach from the north (constantly saving in case of trouble)...I hope you have a plan when you get there cuz those boys mean business...

And I'm not trying to be judgmental or anything, but I'd just go ahead and play the game the way it was probably intended (go clockwise around the map starting from Arroyo)...especially if this is your first play-thru

People can get to San Francisco and hear about Navarro from the Brotherhood guy just by wandering around. It's not some kind of evil trick that only cheaters know.

If it was cheating they would have put a big wall around Navarro so you couldn't get in without the GECK. And yet they didn't.
