It said that the Courier and Ulysses have a relationship with each other that players might not expect, I don't think that they are gay - what it think is that they are siblings

Doubtful, Ulysses is probably African American while the Courier can potentially be as Caucasian as one can get. I doubt there will be any sort of family relationship.

I for one don't think the Courier has even met Ulysses, or even knows who he is is. I find it likely that the Courier unintentionally did something that had a great impact on Ulysses' life without even realizing it. There's only so many ways Obsidian can approach this story, the Courier is a player defined character who doesn't have amnesia, so they're probably not any different in New Vegas than they were back then, and in New Vegas you're not railroaded into being a jerkface.

Nobody is homophobic in this thread, NOBODY. The reason so few people actualy want this is probably becuse they don't want to be railroaded into something like that, if you are not a homosixual in game then you should not have or had a gay relationship.

This makes the most sense ^. We make are own back story. Its not like Fallout 3 were its pretty much made for us. I dont' see the Devs having a DLC where its "surprise you're gay." It also would not work for people that make female characters. So the theory that Ulysses is our characters gay lover or ex-gay lover is total crap.

I... really like the idea of the indirect relationship. It hadn't even occurred to me before. Then again, I've been so caught up with being terrified of Ghost People, that my lack of openness isn't surprising. It'd still potentially affect the PC's history/backstory, but even when role-playing in the best environment, you're thrown for so many loops, inadvertently doing something in the past wouldn't be TOO bad...

All in all, you're my new hero.

I think the relashonship between the two would be more friends/enemies then lovers and I hope it is.

No.

The only reason that silly idea started getting kicked around is becuase some people see the word relationship and immediately think 'lovers' and 'intimate'

Relationship is a very broad description. Covering intimate, friendship, rivalry, family and business association amongst others.

Obsidian aren't going to offer us all that choice in our character and then railroad us into such a limited connection. And how would it work if our character was female?

Exactly! Took the words right out of my mouth (or at least, said them first). The word "relationship" is always a grand misconception. However I believe Obsidian intentially left that open ended so than you could think whatever you'd like. Afterall, it's our story when we play the game. Because our characters come from many different backgrounds (as well as race, six, and creed), the connections to the other characters is always subjective to your character.

Why does everyone think relationship means lovers?

re·la·tion·ship
[ri-ley-shuhn-ship]
- noun 1. connection, association, or involvement 2. connection between persons by blood or marriage 3. emotional or other connection between people 4. sixual involvement; affair
