Cyrodiil in Morrowind?

Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 3:49 pm

I was wondering if you guys know of any mods that recreate Cyrodiil from TES IV, like Morroblivion does for TES IV?

As far as I know, there is no such mod. There is Tamriel Rebuilt though, which creates mainland of Morrowind. :)

I don't advise mentioning morrowblivion, it tends to be a taboo on these forums (just so you know :foodndrink: )

Anywho, try Tamriel Rebuilt http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=download

you won't be sorry.

There is no such tool and I don't think there will ever be one. Bethesda has a very aggresive stance against this kind of tools.

Why is it taboo? I really don't understand, it's a good mod...

Because it's technically illegal to import Morrowind assets into Oblivion and vise versa.

Because it uses original TES:3 Morrowind "assets" in TES:4 Oblivion, I believe. If someone was to recreate Cyrodiil from scratch there would be no problem.....

I thought what they did was make Morrowind out of Oblivion assests

Not quite. They used Oblivion's engine, but they made a tool to convert Morrowind's assets into files that the Oblivion engine could use, which is technically illegal, even though one would need Morrowind to play Morroblivion.

Yes - please could we NOT mention mods on here that use assets from other games (including Elder Scrolls games)? Thanks for understanding.

Zackg is (was?) working on creating Cyrodill for MW. http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/news.php (not sure if it's still being worked on)
He is still working on creating the Black marsh province: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1101156-wipz-argonia-thread-ii/page__p__16099401__fromsearch__1&#entry16099401

And there is one for http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1094872-skyrim-home-of-the-nords/page__hl__skyrim

And Zackg also created some cool http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1081794-relz-zackgs-imperial-city-resource-and-ayleid-ruins-resource/page__p__15757785__fromsearch__1&#entry15757785 which are based on Oblivion architecture.

Perhaps the person above is thinking of the Oblivion http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1023007-wipz-sheogorad-forsaken-isles/page__hl__sheogorad. Which is recreating some of Morrowind from scratch. Beautiful project!

That link is for Province: Cyrodiil, of which I am a part of again. If you go there and click on the forums tab you can visit our forums and signing up will allow you to watch our progress as we make it. "I" am not creating Cyrodiil, "we" are. An entire team effort. =-)

Our project aims at bringing Cyrodiil into TES III. We are building a world based on the lore outlined in the Pocket Guide to the Empire. Here's a screenshot of recent progress.

Hi everyone! As Zackg has already said, we are working on rebuilding the Imperial Province. We want to make the province more jungly and a bit more faithful to the version outlined in the first version of the Pocket Guide to the Empire. As of now we are focusing on the Imperial Isle and the sorround area. Zackg has already posted a few shots his work, so I think that I'll post some of mine. It's a new tileset for canolside houses (Yes, our Imperial City will be very water-based).

There is one advantage that Province Cyrodil has over the Skyrim-mod: All the places and cities have already been made by Bethesda before. You could in fact just remake the stuff from Oblivion if you wanted to.

But I love that you want to make it more jungly and in many other respects different from Bethesda's perception of it. I wish you a lot of fun (and patience) in making it :foodndrink:

At a point I had thought about helping you out, but had to decide against it as it would have drawn too much attention from Skyrim and TR where I'm already helping.
By the way, at Skyrim we have a range of new unique rocks and trees that will be used on the Skyrim-side of the Jerallmountains. Especially a wide range of dead and fallen trees with some of them being snow-covered (also a number of snowrocks, all in all more than 50 new unique rocks) . Unfortunately a few of the rocks show rather weird texture seams, those will be fixed at some point, however. I'm sure Lestat will let you have a look at them, if you are interested in examining them.

Last week I also remade a furniture-mesh from Oblivion called "Middle-Class-Brewer", a large apparatus used for brewing. They are often seen in Cyrodiil's taverns.

I'm the webmaster of the site plus one of the leading members (although since I can't currently get Morrowind to work on my laptop, I'm doing more webmastering than direct work on the project).

The current incarnation of the website was set up very recently by myself and I've even managed to integrate it together with the message board navigation and theme-wise. Technically I can't connect the forum login with the website login since they're on two separate databases, one of which I have absolutely no access to anyway. I recommend signing up for the forums if you're interested in contributing or joining in on discussions-signing up on the website will only let you use the shout box and comment on news/photo albums-unless of course you plan on joining the project then it'll give you access to resources for the mod and the ability to submit screenshots and such.

For more screenshots, take a look at our galleries http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/photogallery.php.

Some of my favorite screenshots:

http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/showphoto.php?photo_id=62
http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/showphoto.php?photo_id=15
And a piece of concept art: http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/showphoto.php?photo_id=4

A lot of the screenshots have been "enhanced" somewhat in Photoshop but they were all captured using MGE anyway so they already don't reflect what everyone's graphical experience will be-but they do show what some of the content from the mod will look like.

Here's an article I wrote today about recreating Cyrodiil: http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/articles.php?article_id=1

I think I might've gone on a bit too long giving examples of "representation" in video games. If it bores you, skip over it to the last three or so paragraphs.
