Since then, I just haven't had that sort of experience with him. Part of it, of course, is that I know what to expect at this point (that peaked with one character a while back - we were just travelling along and I suddenly thought, "You know - it should be about time for Audens to show up," and not more than 15 minutes later, there he was. I took that as evidence that I'd played far too much). Part of it though is that he seems to have lost his timing. Recently, I was playing a character who was deep in an ayleid ruin. I can't remember right off which one it was, but it has a huge room with a walkway through it and on the lower level, there are poison traps spaced out all the way through at least two large expanses of floor (if memory serves correctly). She was at the far end of that part of the ruin when she heard, "Oog..... uh...... ah..... ugh......" behind her. Sure enough, here comes Auden, charging through the poison traps. By the time he got to her, he had just a tiny sliver of health left and she took him down with a single hit. Seemed hardly worth the bother. And most recently (and the inspiration for this thread) another of my characters, who's doing the MQ, closed an Oblivion gate and, when she returned to the world, there was Audens, dead on the ground. I don't know if something killed him before he even got to the gate or if he died inside and was ejected when it closed, but in either case, the first she saw of him after his arrest was as a corpse.
Sort of a shame, y'know? I feel sort of bad for him, putting out all that effort only to die before he even gets a chance to rant at my character. Then die.
Feel free to share your Audens stories, or whatever....
