"Pre-hypertension"

Post » Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:44 am

So me and a few friends were messin around in a store today and we walked by the pharmacy and saw that thing where you stick your arm in and it reads your blood pressure. We all did it, and when it was my turn it said that I was 128 over 68. The 68 is normal but apparently below 120 is whats normal for the first number, and when i read its description it sais anything from 121 - 138 was classified as "pre hypertension", just wondering what are some common ways to fix my blood pressure because hypertension doesnt sound like a good thing I know that much

Exercise.

Thought I was doin that well enough, but maybe not. I have about 40 minutes of excersize in my gym class at school, I lift for about an hour after school, and have football practice / football games

First off, I wouldn't be apt to trust a random machine in a random store. If you're seriously worried, ask your doctor.

Also, exercise sometimes isn't enough for some people. Your family may have a history of hyper tension or high blood pressures, or you may just have an underlying genetic or medical condition that is causing this (perhaps you were just excited at the time and your blood pressure was higher as a result?).

Anyways, as I said, if you REALLY are concerned, ask your doctor, not the forums.

I agree completely.

Your doctor can preform better tests than a pharmacy and give you better advice than a gaming forum. :)
