I need a lesson then, cause I have no patience for flippin lock picking and go through 3-4 on an easy lock and don't even bother with average+ anymore.
You have to have a bit of patience. That's number one. As you push each tumbler up with the lockpick, you have to pay attention the speed they travel at. Sometimes they'll go up quickly and immediately fall back. Other times, they'll raise a bit slower. When the tumbler travels at its slowest speed, you have to press X (or whatever your action button is) when the tumbler is at its highest point.
Usually, I press this button slightly after the tumbler reaches top position. If you get it at the right moment, the tumbler will stay in the upward position. Then you move to the next tumbler and perform the same actions.
But if you're roleplaying a character that isn't skilled with lockpicking, all of this kinda defeats the purpose. I've got a couple chars now who aren't supposed to be lockpickers. So whenever they try to pick a lock, I'll use the Auto function, which works sometimes well and sometimes not...depends on the character. Characters with a higher Luck rating will have an easier time.
