Least favorite Fallout city or settlement?

Post » Fri Aug 27, 2010 5:42 pm

So, of all the cities and settlements you've stumbled across in your Wasteland travels, which one were you most eager to leave behind?

Personally, I find it very difficult leaving Vault City without massacering its entire populace. And that's on a morally "good" playthrough.

I really liked VC.... New Civilisation growing (even if I don't agree with their views).

Modoc I find dull enough to keep skipping.

VC reminds us that civilization comes in all shapes and sizes. In many ways, VC was far more ignorant and barbaric than their unwashed Wasteland neighbors.

I can name lots of "towns" in Fo3 that where lame. virtually all but a few where that "1 quest 3-5 people" towns that made no sense whatsoever to be in existance. Gridershade, thats a "Town".

I thought Rivet City was okay. I did get lost a lot at first. I only wish you could've seen the plants they were growing un their hydroponics bay. I would've like to lay witness to the last remnant of agriculture in the Capital Wasteland.

I dont have FO1 or FO2, but I would have loved to see the Shi community in San Francisco. The Wiki doesn't give good pictures of it. I want to know how Chinese people in exile can keep their culture when ours turn to [censored]. Then again you need a cultural in the first place. The 50's seemed like a cultural wasteland when I read up on it. Thank god we live in these times, where at least you can participate in a foreign culture without everyone screaming COMMUNIST!!!!!!!

BTW I'm a Cuban American, so yeah. The 50's would have svcked ass for me. :meh:

The Enclave probably would have charged me with treason for enjoying a bowl of delicious black beans and rice.

All FO3 towns with no exception.
I can't decide on one town.

Why?
Illogical [censored]holes, all of 'em.
No damn economy either.

FO1: Necropolis, just didn't like it.

FO2: Klamath, once you've taken Vic's radio and his pipe rifle w/ ammo, fixed the still and killed the surrounding geckos and finally gotten that car-part guarded by Raticolomus and his rats army you're done. Nothin' more to do here. Can hardly say I long for the place really.

Megaton, because you can blow it up along with its annoying NPCs.

I fully agree. What possessed them (devs) to put so much work into the landscape and then cheap right out when it comes to the cities? Did they think cities would distract us from endlessly wondering the wastes admiring their work?

Think of how cool it would have been to see a 3d version of the F1&2 style cities.

And, the balance of humour and seriousness of the cities and NPC inhabitants was off. It reminded me of Oblivion, but worse.

It's something of a tie between Megaton and Rivet City, in Megaton everyone seems to be either a bunch of despicable wastes of skin, or are totally oblivious to the nature of their town. And in Rivet City I'm always being accused of being a criminal, if I weren't playing on the light side I'd grab my gun and blast the heads of every security guard in that overrated bucket of bolts.

These two are the most useless, but I kinda liked the ditsy chick from Girdershade. (what was her name again?)

While I loved the look of the city in the intro movie, I was less than thrilled with my experience within Necropolis in the original Fallout. I think out of every city I played in from the 3 games, that was about the only one I really really disliked. Although Modoc does bear an honorable mention.

Big Town was my least favorite, if I have to pick any. I liked how it's really a sort of backwater village full of retarded people, but the NPCs are really not doing anything, whereas in other towns they look like they're busy.

I didn't like Rivet City at first because I would get lost all the time. You really have to walk through it a couple of times and then make a map in your head of what it looks like. I spent ages looking for The Muddy Rudder, lol!

I don't own Fallout 1 or 2, so I can't say anything about the towns in those games. Personally, I really dig most everything in Fallout 3 and there's very little that I don't like.

Little Lamplight is my least favorite, because of the way its built, it's like a maze. And I don't like them darn kids.

My least favorite in Fo3 would have been The Family's hideout, since you have to go through a bunch of stuff to get to a place that only has 1 merchant. Plus Vance was a freak, In my opinion.

Never played Fo1, Suppose I need to. But my least favorite in Fo2 was Ghost Town, spooky.
