Feature Request: Custom Journal Notes

Post » Sat Aug 28, 2010 4:02 am

While playing Oblivion there were times that I really wanted to jot a few things down, such as locations or peoples' names, but there's no in-game facility for doing this. Of course, I ended up having a bunch of sticky's on my monitor, but I'd much rather have a very simple notepad-like interface as part of the journal. If it had nameable tabs, even better.

Perhaps some effort could be required as well; e.g., you must collect an ink well, a pen and blank parchment from various places in the world. Once gathered, a sheet of blank parchment becomes a new nameable tab in the custom journal. A single parchment could only hold so much writing, thus you'd have the choice of either deleting existing notes or collecting additional parchment to add new tabs. An ink well could even run out of ink after so much use.

Regardless, all I really want - at the very least - is some way of taking custom notes that can be saved with my character.

And if it's not included, then please ensure there's some way that this could be included by modders for PC users.

Thanks, can't wait for Skyrim!

PS. I'm sure this isn't an original request, but I searched first in the new Skyirm forum but didn't find it.

It's why you have paper. But I know what you mean.

I think the ability to write notes on a map is more useful though.

I love the idea, and you can use it for console too, since you know, you can use keyboards for consoles! Overall, everyone can use it, and why would anyone hate on it, you don't HAVE to use it, and its nothing like it the catagory of fast travel. Damn, I hope I can disable that >: D

And as for writing notes on the map: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26389 . Good thing about BGS is that all these little requests people make can be modded in lickety split, even if they aren't in the original Skyrim release.

Indeed, I definitely hope for this, as journal keeping can really enhance roleplaying experience. It's nice to jot down your characters thoughts, especially if you try to run multiple characters. :) At the very least, I hope it's easier to mod it in stably than it was for Morrowind.
