(RELZ)Redoran Vault Extended

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 5:05 pm

Well, seeing as how it couldnt hurt, I decided to post a thread about this. As stated in the description, this mod will complete the last vault that needs to be expanded, the other 2 having already been done(hlaalu and telvanni). This now means that all three vaults have been expanded to include the wealth you would imagine to be from a great house; as opposed to the originals which seemed like they were from a single family.

This is an extended version of the Redoran Vault. All it does is add more rooms with more treasure, and of course, more guards. In fact if you do get caught in there stealing something, you will likely be bludgened to death by multiple ordinator maces. hah
There is also a little surprise waiting in the vault, but you wouldn't want me to spoil it for you by saying anything right?
I also took after the LGNPC project in the way House Redoran was looked at, as an old house of warriors in decline. As such, while they still certainly have wealth, it will not be quite as much as...say House Hlaalu. If you do decide to go raid the vault(or look in CS at it cheater, haha, I joke), you will see evidence of this decline.
All in all, nothing god like has been added, just stuff you would expect to find in a vault. So there isnt anything that will allow you to kill ten men with a single blast or that will allow you to toss Dagoth Ur around like a rag doll. hah

Conflicts
All this does is add to the Redoran vault, nothing else. The orginal vault has been left untouched except for the addition of doors to the new parts. It should not conflict with anything unless that something adds to exactly where I have added.

Also, this mod will complete the trio of vaults for each house, the other 2 having been done by Serenia. Seeing that only 2 vaults were done, I figured I would do the third.

If there is any need to contact me, please do so via the email allowed by this site or message me on the Bethesda forums under the same name of Tarius. If you plan on usng this for anything else, just give me credit.

There are also a couple pictures for those of you who simply must have them.

Hopefully thats all and I havent forgotten anything.

Links to the other 2 vaults are on PES under the related mods section of the page.

Heh, I remember a year or two back I was wondering why nobody had released a mod for the Redoran vault, yet there were mods for the other two. I had forgotten about that. Thanks for reminding me, and thanks for sharing this mod with us. :^)

I came , I saw , I raided ...
Nicely done ! Although , there is a double set of doors at the end of the first corridor that seem to be unopenable ; is that intentional ?

Those doors are locked with a lock level zero in the CS, maybe that results in doors that cannot be opened? Or maybe it's the architecture right there that stops the doors from opening... that is a very funky area, there's a massive bridge inside the walls, stone discs in the floor and ceiling, and why is the final room at an angle to the previous room? Tarius I like your mod and I'm glad you shared it with us, but I just had to redo that crazy architecture there. Did you make the rooms angled on purpose? IMO they look better simply connected so that's the way I've got it set up now. :^)

It's nice to see the Redoran vault finally receiving attention, but I find the execution to be a little rough.

First off, there are just too many rooms taking up too much space. Remember, these vaults need to fit within a Vivec canton, where space is already at a premium. I can imagine the angled room on the north end (and perhaps the two adjacent rooms) sticking out of the canton's exterior walls. I'd suggest removing two or three rooms from the north end, condensing their contents into the remaining ones.

Second, the angled double door design with the Ordinator stuck between is... odd. While an interesting experiment, it doesn't really fit the Redoran style in my mind.

I'll put spoiler tags around the last part for those who haven't tried the mod yet; don't read if you want to discover the loot yourself:

Spoiler
There's a bit too much loot for a House in decline. What really sticks out is the Daedric equipment. Removing one of the swords and either the shield or the pauldrons would be a good start. Also, the Indoril armor in the chest with the Daedric shield is a little strange. Why would the Redorans have it? Some sort of trophy from the past?

Those nitpicks aside, it's pretty good.

Hmm, Ill have to take a look at that door.

Edit: Ok the door works as it should, it just doesnt tell you it needs a key. I guess that isnt as apparent as I thought it would be.
So yes, there is a key lying around that you need to access the room.

As for the room architecture, I decided to do something different, the bent hall sort of thing there. It doesnt impede movement or anything else, and looks completely fine in the game, the only reason I used the large object there is because I was trying to find something that fit there, without overlaps, that made it so you couldnt see off into oblivion.(I once used an indoor daedric hallway outside in something I was messing with) I guess however, that radical architecture isnt for everone, but its all the same everywhere, why wouldnt there be the odd difference? If enough people comment they dont like it, then I can simply take it out.

As for the amount of treasure there, yea, there are a couple of high value armor and weapons, think of them as trophies or whatever you want, it is a hosue of warriors who would indeed keep trophies I would think. However, much of the loot value is in the form of weapons and armor; I think it makes sense that the house of warriors would put their most valuable armor and weapons in the vault.

Could you make it so that everything in the vaults is free for you to take once you become the master of the great house that owns that vault. It seems like you of anyone would have a right to use the weapons and armor in there. Maybe only the weapons armor and magical items.
