Dragon Chants and Kinect/Microphones

Post » Mon Aug 30, 2010 6:09 am

Bethesda is not going to do anything like this. Why? Because they are not going to waste a whole lot of time developing a feature that:

1. Is intended for one of the three systems the game is made for
2. Is targeted at an even smaller portion of those players
3. Does not entice people with a Kinect who otherwise don't care about Skyrim to rush out and buy a copy
4. Would horribly manage development time, and waste resources on something that can be accomplished with a simple button/key mapping

Its funny, ever since the Kinect came out people who wasted money on it are finding out its use is limited to a handful of crappy games that are all very similar in the end. So now all you see are lots of really terrible suggestions of how the Kinect could be implemented into every game out there. Free tip: Just because you wasted money on something MS told you was going to blow your mind, does not mean every developer in the world is going to jump through hoops and tack on pointless features to make your purchase justified.

He's saying that it should use the kinects MICROPHONE.

Do the PS3 and the PC not have microphones?

No thank you. I prefer them spending the time it would take to implement that, to add a few dozen/hundreds??! npcs and/or locations, quests, etc.. in the game

this statement has my 100% agreement.

I hope not, I have been adamantly against Project Natal ever since they changed the name to that watered down casual crap Microsoft is using to jump on the motion sensing bandwagon. I'll just stop the rant here since it's late and no one really cares.

You didn't even read the OP. Microphone, not motion sensor.

I shall take no part.

You fail to realize not one person develops the whole game.
The people who add stuff like npc's, locations, quests are not the same people who program the engine and allow stuff like Kinect support to happen.

Then those extra people can go play the game and give feedback. Or... They could spend the next couple months playing with the construction set and making a single quest: far more worth it.

It is feasible as it would only be the mic, which can then be done on PC and PS3 really easily. The only problem is we are at the phase of this technology where it just isn't accurate enough yet. I have the newest version of Dragon Naturally Speaking and it ****s up a ton.

I did read the OP, you misread my post. I would hate it because it would include Kinect, which I am adamantly against. I was not suggesting the game would feature motion sensativity, just that it would probably use Kinect, AKA it would be a gimmick. That's all a feature like this would be, a gimmick masked with lies about immersion.

Seems like more and more people these days are jumping on the "we're not on the motion sensing bandwagon" bandwagon.
