How much customization?

Post » Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:23 am

Well, we wont be able to [censored] customization, but we might be able to piss it, and is the texture thing true? (That is changes the whole item, and not just pattern and colour, or just one of those)

Revo had a picture illustrating how the textures could be changed on The Shield's helmet, maybe he will nice and post it again? D=

It was http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/2193/im26.jpg.

Anyway, I'm not sure how far the alteration goes. Definately the colour and pattern can change.
I imagine that a different pattern will also make the item look slightly different.
Based on that concept art, I also elaborated an idea that the different colours/patterns would possibly change the overall style of an item.

Since they are using bump mapping (i think), a different pattern is very easy to make a different texture with.

Maybe it's just my mind making fun of my hope, but I remember a quote which said that you can unlock weapons, magazines, blah blah AND clothes too as you level up. I hope so...

It could be, but even if it is, it illustrates how the different textures for each piece of clothing changes the basic look of it. Its easy to do with bump-mapping, once you have a basic wire-frame. So they took advantage and did more than just color swaps.

As I said: I just made an assumption there.

You unlock the different clothing-sets (Archetypes).

I remember seeing somewhere that not only could you change the colours on things, you could change their textures too.

Confirmed as well, I thought.

Yeah I think it was in Horse's guide, he mentioned that people from PAX or somewhere else said you could do that.

You basicly can't change the colour, but by selecting one, the texture usually changes as well.

Yeah I looked at another video today and it looks like it just changes the texture with the colours. Which honestly is much cooler, because instead of just cycling through colours it's more of you cycling through a TON of different versions of that shirt.
