Some texture and sound mods have no effect

Post » Tue Aug 31, 2010 11:42 am

So I've been getting mods from a mod list, and I noticed that the last few actually didn't take effect. Also, a lot of the mods are texture replacers that only make it look slightly better, so I'm not entirely sure that all of those are working either (most of the noticable ones are though). I noticed this with Oblivion Septims and Kirel's Interior Weather. I'm running the game on windows7 through steam BTW. Here's a list of all the mods I have installed so far, in the order that I installed them:

the morrowind patch project
better bodies
liztail's new beast bodies
better heads
better clothes
siege at firemoth
darknut's weapon, creature and equipment textures
visual pack
mesh improvements
correct uv rocks
slartibartfast's texture fix
bloodmoon landscape overhaul
swg's skies
oblivion septims
weathered signposts
journal, books, and scrolls
herbalism for purists
a flock of seagulls
kirel's interior weather

Help would really be appreciated.

This type of problem is usually because mods being installed in the location for windows XP whilst windows 7 and Vista set up the game elsewhere so you need to find the mod files and put them in the same place as where your game has been installed.

Hmm, I put it in the same place I put all the other mods. This is my data files path:

(C:) - program files (x86) - Steam - SteamApps - Common - Morrowind - Data Files

I usually unpack the mods somewhere else and then put the folders/files where they need to go.

I'm not a Steam user, but I've heard that some Texture replacers don't work correctly because Steam redates the Bethesda BSAs.... so you have to redate them back to 2002.

Also, which mods aren't working? (besides texture replacers)
If we know which ESPs are problematic, we can probably suggest a better Load Order or such. :)

oblivion septims and kirel's interior weather are the only ones I've actually noticed. Kirel's is a .esp file. Things that just make it a bit more high-res like darknut's stuff might not be working only because I can't tell (otherwise just assume only septims and weather aren't working).

I just remembered that I actually haven't installed duncans atmospheric sound effects yet BTW.

Did you try re-installing the mods that don't work, just in case.
And I know that Kirel's Interior Weather doesn't work when you first load it. You have to wait for the weather to change at least once. Also, if you didn't use the Louder version, it's hard to hear.

If your Darknut textures are installed correctly, they should work.

Okay, I used the louder version of Kirel's and could hear it (barely still, even with full effects and no music). I checked the other things and I now know that darknut's equipment, "journal, books, and scrolls", and oblivion septims are not working.

I wanted to do some snorkeling sometime within the next couple decades, and I heard those chainmail suits get kinda expensive.

Also, do prison buses have emergency exits? That would be kinda crazy.

Are they Darknut's armor textures? I've seen others make the following mistake....
You have to install each armor type manually. The armor textures come packaged individually for each armor, and cannot just be just dumped into the Textures folder as one folder.
These instructions are, of course, in the ReadMe.

Hope that helps.

mine was weapon textures.

Darknut's Little Weapons Mod complete.

A weapons Mod By Darknut

This mod replaces all the Weapon Textures in Morrowind, Tribunal & Bloodmoon.

I mostly didn't chance the look of the weapons I just tried to make a highres version of the textures
but I did "tweak" a few here & there, mostly unique weapons & I tried to stay in the spirit of the original when I did change things.

The Meshes included are all modified in one way or another either for unique textures or a tweak of the meshe itself.

This mod incorporates "Darknut's Little Weapons mods" 1, 2 & 3 so just let this mod overwrite them as they have been redone for this mod.

This mod doe not effect my Umbra replacement mod.

Installation:

!Warning!

These will overwrite the original meshes & textures

512 & 1024 textures are both included just copy the ones you want to the root of the
Data Files/Textures/ Directory

The Meshes go in the Data Files/w/ Directory

Have fun.

Darknut

it didn't work, ill try again though.
Didn't work, maybe im not installing it correctly?

Okay, I feel really stupid. I saw this comment but couldn't investigate it at the time so I forgot about it. I changed the dates and everything works now (I guess visual pack wasn't working either so I got a big surprise). Thank you.

Manwho: I think the .dds files have to be directly in your textures folder (with no subfolder). The textures folder that comes with the mod contains the 512 and 1024 folders, so you'll need to move the files from one of them directly into textures.

Okay,I didn't want to start a new thread if another one might have the answer.
So when he said he had a problem with darknut's textures I jumped at it.
And then you know what happened.
