Shader ideas and possibilitys

that would be good for when its raining get drops of rain on the camera lens i might know of a good resource for that

and how about http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3206/3080116944_1d5bc6d116.jpg as translucent background giving the lens a dirty fogged up look wile raining, you could have it slowly fade in from when it starts to rain and have the raindrops fade in at random points on the "lense"

then after it stops raining for a wile have these effects fade out over time giving a drying effect, and if were talking camera lens shaders how about http://espadakiller.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/vlcsnap-112634.png for a hit fader not the best of shots i cant seem to find one but blood on the lens for a hit fader

the only other lens shader if wanted for so long is http://farm1.static.flickr.com/110/309318492_2ee909bb95.jpg witch maybe could be done using a texture placed on screen when when the sun is in the picture maybe only during sunset and sunrise for those awesome scenic shots. wd need it to be moved, scaled and maybe even rotate a little, or for a quick and easy method just replace the sun-glare texture with this instead so youd have to put the cross hair on the sun to see this effect

okay heres a quick mock up of what the morrowind appropriate theme might look like, the ideal is that the circle like frame can be replaced with several different styles and themes wile the bars stay in the same place only using different textures to fit the theme. once the template is done then all you artists and textuars out there cam make your own in-visions of what ever you see fit, if we script a menu with about 100 styles to change from and simply use template texture set for all 100 styles then people can start replacing them with there own.

the final version will certainly be better then the above image and my not look quite like it aether, im trying to capture the splash screen style a bit as it dost feature anywhere else in the game, ill also be using the borders that is uses in the original health bar, i just need to figure out take a shape in photoshop and frame it with a section of morrowinds border any ideas?

im also tweaking my hud style a bit here and there as i work things out and come up with a better style, so im going to make a quick template of the hud pieces that will be simple black and white and showing its boundarys size for the texture, this then can be used for testing and scripting and as a slandered fit so all textures of themes will be based off these so that there all comparable. the template wont take me long so when im done ill send them your way skaeps. that way wile im working on texturing and such you can work with these, ill include all the hud parts eg companion stats, enemy stats and the info point

It looks cool and favorable. :) Keep up the great work. I nailed a system that works, I think. As for blood and water, I will figure them out. (when someone fixes the shader editor and add some time variables. There are some number of simple shaders of mine that work in preview but not ingame.)

I might be mis-remembering, but I believe a time variable for shaders was one of the things in MGE XE 0.6.2.... replaced tickcount I believe? I'd have to check the thread again, and I know it isn't in a standard MGE install yet, but something to keep in mind :shrug:

Heres the templates for all the hud sections these are for a standered fit so that all future textures can be based of these. this shows the boundary for each piece, were transparency can be used, ill upload these for testing use and for anyone to make there own textures for this. What i was thinking for changeable themes ingame, if we script a sort of menu to get the hud to use a texture set. say we have in the texture folder a folder called hud and in that we have a folder called theme 1 and another called theme 2 and so on, so all we got to do is get the script to redirect the hud witch folder it uses for the theme. we could make 100 theme folders all using the standered template till some one replaces it with a textured version.

the order of this is the background first then the frame and then the center, the center is what the avatar image will be, then the frame wich is were the bars join up to and the background is for style

i have moved the map to the bottom left section know as the info point were the time date object selection and various info will be displayed so it made more scene that the map and compass be there. the info point will have various buttons to press that will show the info you want so pressing the map button displays the map pressing again removes. i wanted to link it to the script an actual map in game so if your not got a map in your inventory then you wont have accesses to a map on the hud same with clock and compass same with the journal, i wanted you to have to carry a journal and if you dont have it in your inventory then you cant read it. would that be easy to do?

i have some good water drop textures for putting drops of water on the camera when raining thay could even be used on the player and npcs too to put on there skin, ill upload them to for ya to look at and i swear i have some good blood textures too ill have to check on that one

edit - noticed an imperfection in the template fixing and will reupload

Iv fixed the template for testing if anyone wants just let me know also iv redone the morrowind appropriate theme using the template as a guide and the result is this
