A Series of Conspicuous Events

Conspicuous - Attracting attention, as by being unusual or remarkable; noticeable

Brief History of Port Torval

Everyone In Tamriel has heard of the infamous Port Torval. It's an average sized town located on the border of Black Marsh next to the Topal Bay in Cyrodiil. Its obvious main function is to be a port for ships and also for fishing. However, the main thing that makes this town conspicuous and stand out from any other town in Tamriel is the strange series of events that always revolve around this port. Since it was first created in 3E 38, the year Tiber Septim died, many strange and sudden events have taken place around the town such as when a roving group of mad Nagas from the inner swamps of Black Marsh attacked the city in the year 3E 58, a mere 20 years after its founding. Other events of note are when Emperor Pelagius II visited the town in the year 3E 85, the exact same time when Scamps magically appeared in the town square and attempted to hold the Emperor hostage before being beaten back by the Royal Imperial Guards. It is now the year 3E 432 and it is not long until the Daedric invasion of Tamriel. Will you survive?

Roleplay

The basic focus of this RP is to live the life of a citizen of this strange town or be a visitor and witness and become a part of the events that unfold here. I shall create events one at a time or a few at a time so people don't get confused about them. Some will effect a few characters and others will effect the town as a whole. You may play any character that you wish such as a lowly blacksmith, farmer, fisherman, woodcutter, homeless person, guard or nobleman to name a few. If your an outsider and visitor to the town you may wish to play a mercenary, travellor or writer looking for inspiration.Be who you wish and create a detailed background for that person. Just don't make anything stupid like being the Emperor or King Helseth. Also the count is out of bounds as I am going to create some events around him.

Rules

* No ubering. Most people in this town will have some sort of combat skill, after all they will need to survive in a town this dangerous, but none are super strong warriors who can kill a man with a mere stare. Be realistic. You will be more stronger if your an outsider but not super strong.

*My word is law. Lots of strange things will be happening in this city so if I decide that an army of flying Sload attack the city with pots and pans then so be it.

*Anyone can join but you must FIRST PM CS SHEETS TO ME. IF you don't know what a CS sheet is then don't even bother joining. I decide who joins so I recommend treating this like a job application. Good spelling, detail and grammar is a must.

* Try and post reguarly and as often as possible. Don't just vanish for no reason in an imprtant part of the RP with no explanation. I understand if it is an urgent matter in real life that needs the utmost attention but if you are say going on holiday and won't be on for awhile tell everyone and give control of your Character to someone you trust until you get back or pretend they are going on vacation.

*No flaming , spamming etc

*Romance is allowed to a certain extent but don't be ridiculous about it and try and bang everyone in sight.

* Don't kill another persons character unless they wish it so. If they want to create another character then that is fine but they most post the new CS to me.

* If you are in combat with someone else don't control their character or sum it all up in one post unless they wish it so. I would recommend PMing the person and asking them what should happen before hand.

*Keep spelling and grammar to the best of your ability and try and put some detail in your posts. I don't want to see hundreds of posts that are just one liners. Also if you missed something out in your last post don't post again. Just edit your last post and put at the end that you have edited it.

*Use the character sheet provided but If you deem it necessary to add on extras to it then do so.

*I can't stress this enough. Post Your CS To Me Before Joining or I will get a moderator to delete your post. I want to keep this nice and neat and only I decide who join.

*Most of all have fun!

Physical description: Strong and Masculine . Claudius shows the obvious appearence of a fighter. He has strong cheekbones and blue piercing yet weary eyes. He has average ears that don't particularly stick out and a medium sized flat nose. He has a strong flat chin concealed by a full face beard, not too long but not a stubble either. His skin is well kept for his age and he only looks like he is in his 30s however he has a long scar across his right eye. He has unkempt hair that has grown quite thick over the years and long sideburns that join up to his beard.

Short bio: Claudius had originally served in the Imperial Legion in his past. Serving in forts all across Tamriel and eventually rising to the rank of Captain and in charge of his own regiment nicknamed "Septims Fist" due to them mostly crushing revolts and conspiracys against the Empire. He has seen many horrific things and due to his role it has scarred him mentally. He got his scar from a deadly duel with a Redguard in Summerset Isles which nearly ended in an early end to his career. He doesn't talk about his Legion Days much. He decided to retire from the Legion early but instead decided to fill the role of Town Captain in Port Torval after the last one met an unfortunate end to the hands of a mad Bosmer weilding an axe because of some conspiracy or something.

Personality: Due to his role he needs to keep a strong and patience state of mind to people as Town Captain. Inside however he will never forget what he did in the Legion and the atrocities he commited "In the name of the Emperor". This mental scarring can make him vicous in combat.

The Story begins...

It was a bright and early Sundas morning when Claudius woke up. He had worked the day shift yesterday and was incredibly fatigued from his rounds the day before and didn't want to get out of bed. However he had a duty to fulfill to the town people. To keep them safe, to keep them secure, to keep them from ripping each others throats out. He lifted himself up and sat down by the side of the bed holding his head in his hand, it was throbbing painfully and he didn't know why.

What's this pain in my head? he thought to himself as he looked up. His room was in the tower that was joined onto the guard barracks and served no other purpose but to house the Town Captain. It was of elegant design and well furnished with two wooden chairs with cushions to sit on next to a sturdy wooden table with silver plates and cutlery and his own tankard he carried with him everywhere. That tankard was a gift from his former general when he was promoted to a Legion Captain and granted his own regiment. As much as he would like to forget his Legion days he kept the tankard around in memoration of his greatest achievement, and perhaps biggest mistake. There was also bookcases with a wide variety of books from how to keep your armor in top condition, storys on fictional adventures and even rude books such as the Lusty Argonian Maid.

Just then he remembered what had happened the day before. As he was making his day rounds before his time was up he noticed an Argonian looking for something in a dark alley.
" What are you doing in a dark alley may I ask?" he shouted to the Argonian
" Oh Captain Claudius its you!" she squeeled in joy "I'm looking for my ring but I can't find it, you couldn't help me could you Captain?"Claudius looked puzzled as to why she was looking for a ring in a dark alley and wasn't about to do anything else until he knew why.
"Why would you be looking for a ring in an alley Argonian, it seems a bit strange you must admit"he asked her
"Oh its just that I was erm...walking past and looking at it in my hand when...I...erm...dropped it and it rolled in to this alley! I must have it Captain...you see its a family heirloom!" she quickly replied with a desperate look on her face
"Very well I'll help you but you better be telling the truth" Claudius said as he cautiously stepped into the dark alley with his hand held onto his sword as he looked at every shadow, almost expecting something to jump out at him. As he got closer to the Argonian a figure stealthy revealed itself behind him from its chameleon spell and hit him over the head with a club, knocking him to the ground. The assailant had expected him to be knocked unconscious and didn't expect him to suddenly jump up and get hit in the head by the hilt of his sword. The other Argonian begun to try and run past him but Claudius was quick enough to grab her and pin her to the ground. At this moment in time other guardsmen nearby had heard the commotion and run to see what was happening only to see the matter taken care of.
"You don't mind taking over from here do you? Send these scum straight to the slammer and i'll deal with them later" he said as he walked past them heading for a goods night rest.

The Captain stood up from the bed and begun to get dressed. His duty today was to man the gates and "interogate" any visitors and outsiders to the town. He couldn't be bothered to see the Argonians that attempted to rob him yesterday just yet. Let them rot for now he thought to himself as he attatched his cape onto his armor. He walked out of the door after grabbing his sword and walked past a pair of gossiping guardsmen.
" Wow, I heard about what you did to does thugs yesterday sir!" one of them said with excitment
" All in a days work men" He mearly replied as he walked past them and out of the barracks. The sun pained his eyes as he walked out of the door and onto the busy market street. Carts rolled past and people were busy with whatever it was they were doing. Today was market day, the day when ships docked into port and traders from all across Cyrodiil came into town to sell their wares. This also meant that shady figures would be out and about pickpockiting and robbing people. However because he was on the gate he wouldn't be able to apprehend them, that was up to the guards. He would be able to make sure no shady dealers snuck into town though which made him that bit more happier. He finally reached the town gates and greeted the other guard which saluted him
" Captain sir, its a pleasure to serve with you, sir!" he said with a salute
" At ease guard at ease, I will do the talking and you do whatever I say" Claudius replied as he looked out at the road before him
