MAJOR Fallout: New Vegas issues

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 5:01 pm

So we've had MAJOR issues with this game since we got it (nearly the same day as it was released). Other than freezing every time something major happens which we're sort of used to as FO3 had the same issues, this game has caused our entire PS3 system to crash. After talking to Sony and having to reset our PS3 to it's original factory settings (and losing all our saved data) I learned that this game has been causing A LOT of MAJOR system errors. I contacted BethesdaSoftworks about it hoping they'd have more answers and a solution for me but it could be days before I hear back from them. I was posting to see if any body on here has heard of this game causing these issues (or any other issues related to this game) and if anyone has heard what BethesdaSoftworks is planning on doing to correct this issue. It's very frustrating as we just completed the Quarry Junction quest thing will the Death Claws (at level 8 with just beginner weapons and minimal ammo and barely any Stimpaks).

I've got a major problem with my game. I just killed Benny in The Tops Casino and now I'm trying to get out of the casino. I'm off the elevator onto the main floor, but the game keeps on freezing just a couple of seconds after the AUTO save loads. I may try loading my last manually saved game, but how do I know that this won't happen again? :sadvaultboy:

You don't...and in fact, it probably will happen again. The option I've chosen is to simply not play this game any more until a patch releases....if that ever happens. All my saves freeze when I try to enter the strip so the game's useless to me now. I could just start a new game but what good would that do? Eventually it would just happen again on that game too. It totally svcks balls to buy a game that's unplayable and it svcks even worse to think that by the time it is playable the price will have probably dropped. But the only options any of us have is to just svck it up and wait for a patch or just cut our losses and trade it for something else.

One thing's sure though...you have no way of knowing whether your new game or save will eventually start freezing too. And most likely it will and you will just have more frustration. Best just to wait to play until there's a patch I think.

Well then it's a damn good thing Bethesda didn't create the game. The patch is being worked on, do you really want some fix released in a hurry that will [censored] it up even worse?

And the fix to not being able to load the strip areas is to wear either Caleb McCaffery's hat or an 'Old Cowboy Hat'. The cause seems to be killing Caleb McCaffery. It sounds odd but it works.

You are not the only one who PS3 has crashed because of this game, myself and a few others have posted that our systems have crashed.

Whats bugged me, is that everyone says its the Havok game engine thats to blame. However, i've played two other games that came out before and after Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Darksiders and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood use the Havok game engine and they work fine. So its not the game engine its the developer's fault

Disable the auto save option. The problem as been talked about over and over on the forum.
So disable it, should reduce or get rid of some problems. There is always uninstall/reinstall the game
data when you are stuck in a freeze loop, worked well for me a few times.

Yeah the old cowboy hat trick worked for two trips into the strip for me but the thing "broke" and I can't find another one and no one can repair it which means I'm stuck not being able to get back onto the strip... which means I'm left wondering the wasteland in the meantime, waiting for Bethesda to get their crap together and release a patch.
