Kinnect / Move Support?

Post » Wed Sep 08, 2010 7:51 am

Hey all, I was just thinking that with this new combat system there could be some pretty cool usage of the new motion controller tech. from Microsoft and Sony. I only have a PS3 myself, and I've played the move sport champions game that includes a battle arena simulator. It is pretty fun to fight with move controllers, (you know, with 1:1 movement between yourself and the character's shield/sword) and I think it would be really awesome if implemented in a game like Skyrim.
What do you guys think about having motion control support?
Do you think it's likely to be included upon release / later as DLC?

I doubt it or at the very most make it optional.

All the PC owners would rage if it was the only way to play Skyrim.

Would that even be possible in a game like this?

As Skyrim is multi-platform I'd say no.

I can't see Bethesda spending time and resources implementing additional control systems, when each system will only be used by one platform each.

I hope not but I wouldn't rule anything out with the direction they are going.

So would the console owners except the OP.

Not a chance. First of all, you have to walk about and be able to move your character as you fight... your not just locked in place. So while sure, you could swing and fight with a Move controller... how do you expect to move around? Also, there are a lot of other controls that you are required to use as you fight, such as going into menus to change weapons and use potions. It would be nearly impossible to do all of that with a Move controller and would be 100% impossible with Kinect.

People don't seem to get it. Motion sensing technology that Sony/MS use right now only works in simple games that are specifically built for it. Complex games that require something other then a swing of the controller or the use of a lot of other controls simply do not work. The Wii is more flexible in that regard, but still has issues with it.

I was hoping they would implement head tracking for PC PS3 and 360. Since they all have the capability.

Not true. With the kinect It would be impossible to play this game, but move is a different story. Like the wii, the move controller in tandum with it's like sub second controller/dil do has a thumbstick for movement and the main controller for aiming. It has enough buttons that I think Beth could intelligently assign all the necessary game commands to the buttons. In fact, a few soon to be released shooters will have move support(Killzone 3, Socom I think, and an update to RE5 for move support)

Great, let the PS3 version take the flak. Just don't touch the Kinect...
