That's how it is on a real DOS computer, so I would say the emulation is quite accurate. If you played Daggerfall on a Pentium 133 MHz computer, it would pretty much only stutter in two places, some taverns and mages guild.

.73 is awesome. I played some Future Shock yesterday with it, and I noticed a great improvement in loading time and framerate. Just barely started Daggerfall though, but I noticed that it was a bit smoother.

Does it update past installs of DOSbox or do you have to just reinstall it?

If it does what it did in the past, the latter. They've all been discrete for me.

Not ES-related, but Carmageddon is playable now. Anything to help me kill boredom at my parents house is welcome.

What's the screensize you guys are using? I have my dosbox set to fullresolution=original and windowresolution=original but it's squishing the game into a band with black above and below, everything looks a bit squished, and when I manually set a resolution it just gets worse. What was the original resolution of DF?

DOSBox 0.73 makes Daggerfall "pause" for a split second about every 5 seconds when I'm in palaces...

You're supposed to set the resolution in the DOSBox config file to the native resolution of your monitor (mine is set to 1280x800 for my Macbook). I have the renderer set to "opengl" and "aspect=true". Granted, I haven't tested Daggerfall in .73 yet but Carmageddon and everything else I've tried works pretty well.

Edit: Daggerfall works beautifully.

I downloaded the free version Bethesda gave away of Arena last year, but was not able to move the character around at all with the dosbox I downloaded with it - will this one help with Arena? PS - I have Vista.

Ahh it looks much better now, thank you! It still has a bit of a black band above and below, but it's hardly noticeable now.

Do you guys use the core=auto or core=dynamic for Daggerfall? I always use the latter, although people sometimes tell me auto is better. Any insight? I see no negligible difference when using either one. The only real advantage to using core=auto for me is that it works well with TES: Arena as well - if I use core=dynamic, I have to slow it down a bit when playing Arena.

core=auto and core=dynamic are the same for Daggerfall. Since it's a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protected_mode game (Arena isn't), it will switch to dynamic if it's auto.

I use the normal core for every game my CPU can handle, which includes Arena and Daggerfall. For the more demanding games I use the dynamic core. The normal core just feels safer I guess, even if Daggerfall doesn't have any issues with the dynamic core anymore, there used to be.

So I have to uninstall my current DOSBox and reinstall this version? Reconfigure all that junk?

Or is the folder arrangements the same still?

Try changing the output in the conf file to something else.

Possible values are: surface, overlay, opengl, openglnb, ddraw.
