Do you like New Vegas or Oblivion better? I'm also quite certain that New Vegas won't have a DLC that is expansion size, which is what the Shivering Isles is. The Shivering Isles is definitely worth it if you enjoy the game, but I can't say if you'll like it better than whatever future New Vegas DLC there will be.

Its the largest Oblivion expansion - if you loved oblivion then you'll love SI. Explore it, take your time, discover everything - dont rush through it. I wish I had done that hte first time i played SI - however, SI has a lot of replayability value!

Gogogo and buy buy buy because its worth the money!

Shivering Isles is awesome. Get it. If you thought all the planes of Oblivion were like the Deadlands behind the Oblivion gates, you are in for a welcome surprise.

I highly recommend Shivering Isle. Great locations and dungeons, great NPCs, great creatures, and a great set of quests - including the Shivering Isles Main Quest.

I'm in a distinct minority in that I don't like Sheo and I don't like the SI main quest. That said, I highly recommend the expansion. Just the scenery and variety in equipment/dungeons/foes are worthwhile even if all you do is explore it and only do some of the side quests.

Note that I have done everything including all the quests in the SI on previous characters in the past. That is how I have drawn my conclusions for future play.

I found Sheo to be an irritating little twit during his Borderwatch Daedric Shrine quest and found him to be just as inane in the SI. As I said though, I am really in the minority here.

Yes it's worthwhile just make sure you get the patch for it which I think you will all ready have that. Not to mention that the night sky in Mania is awesome and breathtaking

Play through once. Enjoy
Play through twice. Just couldnt do it.

Aside from the lore that gets broken in numerous instances (you'd think Bethesda would be able to uphold their own lore) its just so artificial. Eg: the 'achievement' trophies in the throne room. Stupid and lame.

Spoiler
And lets face it: "becoming Sheogorath" is the most rediculous thing ever dreampt up. Its just wrong on so many levels. It makes me shiver thinking about how incorrect everything is.

... err nice scenery tho ;)
Lets just say its not worth paying for

SI is great. You get access to a brand new area roughly 30% of the size of Cyrodiil. The scenery is fantastic, you gain access to a bunch of new items, spell effects, and ingredients, and the MQ is one of the most popular questlines.

I absolutely loved SI. There's just something about the mindf*** (pardon my language) kind of things that I really love. Plus if you're like me and found the scenery of Oblivion to be a bit dull, you'll find the Isles a great change of scenery. All the people in SI have their own form of madness and thus their own personalities giving the expansion a much deeper feel than vanilla. So I would definately buy it right now.
