i am working my way through the castle and you must lower bridges by some pullies found elsewhere. i have come to the door leading downstairs and the gate says it is opened elsewhere, there was a note that said take notic to the caddles and i have tried numerous times to walk on the stones by the candles then tried 1 block, 2 blocks, 3 blocks then 1 block again since yhats how many candles were there. Am i doing something wrong or in wrong order or is there a pully i missed ??? thx

Are you counting from the same side all the time? You're close to getting it right, there's just one aspect missing.

There is a lever in the room where you killed the two Conjurers to open a side passage that leads to a view of the drawbridges, and this viewpoint has a lever to lower them. Once you have lowered the drawbridges, then you sould be able to get thru the "candle" section. One candle means first block, two candles mean second block, etc...
