My laptop runs OB maxed out so I hope I don't need to get it for 360 or a new PC....

Hi boys. I would like to improve my computer too. Would be all new. What PC do you recommend mi to run all actually and future games like Skyrim with a excellent performance?

Intel or AMD? 4 Gb or 6 Gb Ram? The recommend graphic? I've got more or less 900 € to improve it all. More money i cant pay.

Thanks!

It depends of when you buy your system...right now? or you'll wait until October, like many people here will do (including me)?

If it's in October...(and from an AMD / nVidia point of view...):

Graphics card: Geforce GTX 570 surely will get it's price cut down to +/-150 or 200 (as much) by October. Cutting-edge DX11 card and only slightly slower than the GTX 580 (which is the fastest GPU avaliable right now).
MOBO: Best you can buy for 100-125 (more than enough to get a good one).
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 2,80 Ghz (recommended), or a similar-prized Intel core i5 processor. (+/- 150). (currently the 6 core AMD I mentioned is at 187, surely it's prize will be cut by 30 bucks by Oct).
RAM: 8 gbs DDR3 (100).
Misc (power supply, tower, peripherals, hard disk...): You'd need a nice power supply (700 min I think, but better ask your PC assembler) for the graphics card, but all together shouldn't be more than 150-200, being a lot of pessimistic.

So, here you are. A nice PC for 775 at most :) Note that I didn't mention speakers or a monitor, as I don't know if you want to change them, too, but there are nice 19' monitors for your 125 remaining bucks, or a nice 24' if you don't mind adding another 50-75 bucks (and who wants speakers when you can get some good hearphones...). Or if you've a nice monitor / TV already, just use them to improve even more your CPU/GPU.

*I got those prices at a store here in Spain. Hope they don't vary too much in the country you're.

I am fairly sure my pc will run this game at high settings. Not positive but am hoping so. If not it's off to buy a xbox 360. I've sworn to myself next time I need a new graphics card I will purchase a xbox instead. It's time to move on over to the other side.

Heh, NP :) I'm building a new PC, too, and I'm very picky with the components. If you have any question, feel free to ask.

Also, check again my post, as I've edited it :)

Benrahir's advice is good, but you can probably save even more money by waiting and doing a bit of research in the meantime. Judging by the most recently released Intel processors, you'll probably be able to get a lot more processor for your money in the next few months. And for a single mid- to high-end graphics card setup, a 500-600W power supply would likely be more than enough if you choose a good brand (OCZ, Corsair, etc; there are lots of options).

I just said I wont get an upgrade but sandy bridge is out and bulldozer will be soon and my dad is willing to give me 300$ towards a new PC... So I will probably upgrade before its release.

lol well knowing intel that 300 will go to half the price of the sandy bridge and will probably pay for the bulldozer. honestly i havnt heard squat on sandybridge but bulldozer sounds like it will be the next evolution of chip tech. pretty much from my under standing they will be sold in dual and quad but heres the thing the duals are actually quads and the quads are actually octo. this is because they pretty much fuse to cores together and thread them with the other core to where they can share all recourses. meaning they will be extremely powerful.

well being an american i had to google what 900 € is currently worth to the $ it equalls about $1164.96 which is enough to make you a pretty mean system.
i would say you have the money to go with intel if you wanted but you could save some money and get a AMD cpu that runs just as good. i would say get a 64bit operating system and get 8+ gigs of ram just make sure your getting the right 64 bit system to match the ram. i saw some where that the different releases of win 7 each have a different max ram compatibility.
get a case with decent air flow (id recomend one of coolermasters haf series) and you could probably get 2 cards (im an ati man so thats what id recomend but to each there own) and run them in crossfire or sli. just make sure the mobo you get has 2+ pci-e slots where if 2 cards are ran they run in x16/x16 this means that both cards are running full power. and get a power supply that can handle the set up, so 750-1000w should do the trick. best to have more power than your machine will use.

Initially I was just going to up my graphics card. But then a sale got me hooked. And I picked this up yesterday.
Intel? Core? i5 2500K Unlocked Processor $249.99
INSTANT IN-STORE ONLY SAVINGS -$70
P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 ATX Motherboard $229.99
DDR3; USB3.0; SATA 6GB/s; 1394
INSTANT SAVINGS -$40
BUNDLE SAVINGS -$30
BUNDLE THREE TOTAL $339.98

Not top end, but I never buy top end anymore it isn't worth it IMO. I needed ram since my current ram wont work with it so I picked up 8 gigs of it, and I picked up nvidia gtx 470 that was on sale as well. Not the best card, but much better than my nvidia 9800. End of the day about $750 after rebates. Since it basically is a new computer if it lasts me as long as my current computer it is a better deal than last time by a long shot.

I've already put in a demandrequest for the most beastly laptop Asus or Sager make for my birthday which is shortly before Skyrim's release. The one I have now would likely play it fine but I want something that will tear through Skyrim like it's Tetris.

Run the game at 30FPS on max detail
3GHz Quad Core
4GB RAM
1GB of VRAM and DirectX 11

Really? So i'll be fine with my 2GB 7300GS special edition, right? Get a clue about video cards. They are not RAM.

I bet 1/2 of the requirement in PC games these days is simply because of poor optimising and bugs.

...However this is painfully true. I bleed when i think about it.

I know this can handle skyrim (perhaps) but for crysis 2 at max settings and a res of at least 2560 x 1600, is this overkill.
sr2 mobo
48gb ram
4 gtx 580s
terabyte ssd
2 5680 xeons at 4.4ghz each

Overkill doesn't even start to describe this. Unless you are running a server farm you have no need for 48gb of RAM. Unless you are running 2 different CAD programs at the same time no need for 4 graphics carrds. A Terabyte SSD would cost you about 2-3 normal complete gaming PC's.

It's not overkill, it's absurd and I hope a joke.

I hope your joking, what a waste of money, you shouldn't brag about buying ridiculous PC components, especially when it makes you look stupid, that setup is not for gaming, that's for servers.

Your not cool.
