What do the gigantic chair and club in the imperial palace basemant signify???

It's been said that during the Reman Dynasty, Sanguine was living in White Gold Tower but aside from that Pelagius the Mad is another candidate.

I'm gonna go with the "Pelagius the Mad" theory.

Helplessness, feelings of inadequecy, over-compensation. The Glass signifies an inability to meet the demands of time or keep appointments. Also, boredom and listlessness.

Maybe one emperor was going for the world record of biggest hourglass.

Props for the Royal Ball that year. Or a giant was invited to visit the palace and it was easier to stick the stuff in the basemant afterward. Then again it would be one hell of a trapdoor.

I read once that it's also a tribute to the first "Thief" game, if I remember right. There's a similar set of giant objects in it. Maybe someone who has played the game can confirm it; I've only played Thief II.
