Daggerfall magic.

I recently installed Daggerfall again, yay!
Also, I have sound functioning well thanks to VDMS, although I'm not playing it under DosBox (as this seems to think I have no cd, as I've installed the whole contents of the cd to my hard drive), I'm playing it under a section of my hard drive that is in Fat32 format. I'm not using any downclocker such as Turbo to down tone my 2.5Ghz single core on this god-damn awful computer running XP Professional.
Anyway, the game is running fine, although one time I had to restart as everything was moving waaaay too fast (I think this is due to my processor, although I don't know what setting to put it to in Turbo, should I just trial and error?) although this was solved on restart.
However, I can't remember how the hell to cast a spell. I press the cast spell button, then this menu comes up where I can order all my spells and it has an odd menu where you can change the colour of some odd magic sprite I think. How do I actually cast the spell?

In the spell menu just doubleclick the spell you want to cast and if it is a targeted spell you also have to aim and press spacebar.

Even if the game works fine now, I'd still recommend using DOSBox.

To get the game starting without the CD, make sure the "CD" segment in your "z.cfg" file points at your Daggerfall directory (eg. "c:\dagger\arena2\"). Instead of starting the game with "dagger," start using the line "fall z.cfg" (without quotes, obviously).

See if that works any better.

How the hell! can you climb and move about with a 2.5ghz cpu :D I have trouble moving and climbing with a pentium 350ghz, it only works properly when its downclocked.

Dosbox will run Daggerfall far better than any of the slowdown apps, I've tried them all and none of them work properly wih Daggerfall, the framerate runs wrong, speeding up and slowing down all the time. Other DOS games work ok with slowdown apps though... Daggerfall must be one on its own.

Okay, time to err, install dosbox then. Hope it's not too hard. :D

And Manveru, that's kind of what I was doing - although I think the spell flashed up too quickly for me to notice I casted it. I saw no obvious effects apart from my magicka falling down. And also I think the starting healing spell is a cast on target!? Riiiiight.
