How do I start up arena

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:28 am

I cant seem to start up arena, it says in the directions to first "run arena106.exe file", but theres no file named that I even did a full computer search and nothing came up.

Then I read a guide on these forums and in Dosbox it says I have to Mount c games, but in DOSBOX it says Illeagal command.

Can somone help, all these guides are so confusing or doesn't explain it right for newbies.

In DosBox type in "Mount c c:\games" (without the quotation marks), then follow the guide exactly. That part confused me when I was new to DosBox.

Make sure the dosbox is on the C: file, not Z:

Otherwise it won't work because no computer now a days has Z. Hehe.

Z is often a network drive...

Read the stickies, both of them have multiple ways of running all the games. :)

VCDConrtol has an emulated Z: drive.

I don't think mounting Arena to DosBox would work though.

Thats why I posted this, those stickes were basically posted for people who know how to run games like this and not for people who never done it before.

If you don't understand computers, that's cool, no one says you have to, but that's a lot like complaining you don't understand the auto repair manual and you should still be able to install dual headers and a Hurst shifter in your car.

Be sure you follow every step.

Issue #1
Then I read a guide on these forums and in Dosbox it says I have to Mount c games, but in DOSBOX it says Illeagal command.

Sticky answer #1
With this guide I will try to explain on how to run the 4 past games with DOSBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/).

The first thing you need to do is to go to the official website of DOSBox and download it's latest release (currently 0.72), which is free. In the most majority of cases, you need to download the "Win32 installer" version.

After DOSBox is installed, go to the folder where you installed it and create a new folder called "Games".

Issue #2
I cant seem to start up arena, it says in the directions to first "run arena106.exe file", but theres no file named that I even did a full computer search and nothing came up.

Sticky answer #2
I do suggest you download the http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/downloads_games.htm

When you got the Arena106.exe file, double-click on it and select the Games folder you created where you installed DOSBox.

look at this also there is "NO" file named arena106.exe all that seems to be downloaded is scripts for the game

You've already extracted "Arena106.exe" that's how you got the Arena folder. In the Arena folder there should be a MS-DOS batch file called "Arena" that needs to be run to start the game.
