Prologue - The Crash
October 24th, 2077 - 7:45am - Day after the Great War.
Maverick awoke with a tremendous headache. He touched the back of his skull, and saw blood on his hand. Looking around, he realized he was inside of a small aircraft, but it wasn't moving, and it was quite dark inside. He began thinking about the previous events, but the pain in his head stopped him from thinking. The inside of the plane was filled with smoke, along with broken glass and garbage scattered across the floor. Maverick began to panic, and stumbled to his feet.
The sides of the plane had been crumpled, and Maverick could barely breathe from the smoke in the air. All was silent, except for the faint sound of fire from outside of the aircraft. Maverick took a step towards the cockpit of the plane, but stepped on something that felt unusually soft for the floor of a plane. He had stepped on a body. He jumped back in shock, taking two steps behind him, and tripped in the process. He had tripped over another body.
Stumbling back to his feet again, Maverick examined the two bodies; they were both alive. Feeling slightly relieved, he made his way to the cockpit of the plane. He looked inside to see a pilot, who's skull had been smashed into the dashboard, which was now covered with blood and the insides of the pilot's head. Maverick, who was now filled with disgust, began to vomit onto his shoes.
When Maverick finished vomiting, he went back to the fuselage of the aircraft. Maverick tried to open the door of the plane, but realized it had been damaged and wouldn't open. He gave the door a swift kick, which opened the door of the aircraft, but knocked him onto the floor. He stood back up carefully, and slowly stepped outside of the aircraft.
It was bright. His eyes hurt from the difference of lighting, which in turn filled his head with an agonizing pain. He grunted and fell into what seemed to be sand. Maverick held his head for a few seconds, then took a look around. The sky was bright blue, and the sun beamed light and heat directly above him. He could see the ocean, and could hear the waves coming onto the beach in front of him. On the horizon, he could see large, black clouds far out in the distance.
Maverick turned around and looked at the aircraft he just crawled out of. The plane had been crumpled into the ground, and left a large mark in the ground behind it. Smoke rose from the engine, and there was a small fire at the back of the plane. Maverick began to walk down the beach to get a better look at where the plane had crashed. There were trees on one side of him, there was a beach in front of him, and the ocean on the other side of him. He then realized that the plane had crashed on an island. A fairly large island, at that.
Maverick walked down the beach for a few minutes, then headed back to the crashed airplane. He crawled inside of the fuselage, and began pulling the people out onto the beach. There were a total of four survivors inside, each of them passed out, and Maverick had safely taken them out of the plane. He then went back inside the aircraft, and looked for some supplies. There was a fire extinguisher, which he used to put out the small flame in the back. He then grabbed the Emergency Medical Kit and the Food Supply Kit.
Maverick opened the Med Kit, which contained a dozen Stimpaks, some Buffout, tweezers, a scalpel, and other small medical supplies. He injected himself with one of the Stimpaks, which began to numb the pain in his head. Maverick then lay down on the beach beside the other survivors, who were still out cold, and tried thinking about what had happened.
Just as he began to regain his thoughts, one of the other survivors awoke.
