Describe What Fallout Universe Would Be Like Where You Live

Post » Wed Sep 22, 2010 4:16 am

I'm near Indianapolis so I'd expect the Indy 500 track to be turned into a Death Race 2,000 track with Mad Max hot rods running over ghouls, mutants, people for prizes. Lots of cows chickens and pigs around here as it's the midwest so I'd expect some horribly deformed variation of those. I'm thinking the pigs would grow fat on corn and human flesh, mutate over time into hideously enlarged tusked abominations squeeling around the wilderness and needing a laser to the dome to put the miserable beast out of its cursed life. The chickens would likely become a cunning enemy, sneaking around the shadows and pecking eyes out at night. Surely a proper nuka grenade would turn those pecking woes into chicken fingers for all.

Well, my local chavs are pretty much feral ghouls and raiders already, so they would probably mutate into a worse version of those :)

Seriously though, I think my area would be pretty reduced to deserted piles of rubble (it's a suburb), probably with mutated cats and pigeons everywhere. The pigeons would probably be stronger and bigger from scavenging so much food, so would probably be quite dangerous. The cats would probably be like tigers (nuff said).

The pigeons would be more prevalent towards the center of the city, which would be turned into an urban hell of concrete ruins and ruined shops. I would probably expect fights to erupt between scavengers looking for whatever supplies remain among the ruins.

We are only 7km from one of the primary staging areas for the NATO fleet ?which use to be mobilised for the chance of the Russian fleet steaming down past Iceland into the Atlantic and North Sea.

So, in the old cold war scenario, we are toast.
Burnt toast.
Radioactively so.

Now take the Fallout scenario where Europe didn't get bombed, but basically just went to pieces, with minimal nuclear exchange (lore is vague on this..) With the idea that society just crumbles that would entail communities having to fend for themselves, in which case living on an island isn't too bad.
Water levels rise, but then they fall as well ?read it somewhere doing research for a fanfic.
We also have a major royal Dutch marine training facility here on the island. Instant personal armed forces. :D

I live in a small North Carolina town, just a few grocery stores, resturants, and churches, besides houses. It would probably be one of those nameless bombed out towns you would find (though we might catch some of the fallout from Charlette).

Here in Minnesota, it would be a nuclear winter. Literally. Radioactive snow isn't good. So, odds are we would have to live off mutated deer and moose. That, or nuclear fishing! :stare:

Yeah, I would be screwed.

I live near Kansas City, so there would be, as there is now, absolutely nothing interesting going on.

I live right next to the docks and not far from a major aircraft manufacture, so I'd say a cross between the Pitt and Point Lookout.

Well, I live near South Louisiana so, I'd stay away from New Orleans as much as possible unless there was a purge. The Superdome would most likely become a fortress for raiders or gangs.

We probably wouldn't be hit directly, or much at all seeing as how we aren't that important but there are ALOT of animals, stray dogs and cats, that have the potential to mutate from radiation in the air. It probably wouldn't be severe enough to mutate people though but the rednecks around here would have a heyday.

Where I live, I would be dead, because
Spoiler
the Death Ray in Mothership Zeta
fries my house.
