Render Windows: things not appearing

Post » Fri Sep 24, 2010 2:15 am

I'm going through and poking around at some of the vanilla interior cells, studying what was done, making mental note of the actual resources in use, etc --- but things aren't coming up "properly" in the render window. Some cells load but nothing is visible in the render window at all (I can select an item in the cell view listing, and it appears that I'm selected on something in the render window, but still not seeing anything) -- in other cells I'll get just a few random scattered items with most of the surroundings still not visible -- in yet other cells I'll have much of, or even most of the cell drawn in as I'd expect, but with entire chunks "missing".

Seems fairly obvious that I'm missing something... either a setting, or some step I need to do to make resources available to the GECK... can someone point me in the right direction?

(As you can tell, this side of the GECK is still fairly new to me...)

DarkUnclleBoh,

This is a known issue with roombounds and portals. For some reason they hide objects inside of them, go to show hide and, find the checkbox (don't off hand remember what it's called) room markers. You may have to hit F5 to refresh the window. Once you can see them ether move them out of the way or, delete them and hit F5 again, then you should see what is missing.

Only do this in a test esp or, plan on heavy cleaning in NVedit after you've finished working on your mod. The roombounds and, portals are needed for many reasons, if you fail to restore them to default vanilla, you'll end up with a glitchy mod.

Interesting.

On a side note, I'm finding that an easier way to deal with this (rather than using the show/hide window, etc), is to simply go into the cell view, and in the objects listing make sure they're sorted by EditorID... then scroll down and find the first RoomMarker, select them all and delete, then reload the cell.

...for my current purposes at least, that seems to accomplish the same thing, just a bit faster/easier.
