So I recently decided to load up Oblivion again and start a new character. Since it had been a while since I last played, I decided I wanted to wipe my current mods and start putting a new mod list together from scratch. When I got around to it though, I wasn't sure which files were vanilla oblivion and which were mods, so I uninstalled the game and deleted the Oblivion folder, then reinstalled. Well, since doing that I have not been able to play the game at all. It continues to crash every time I start the game within a few seconds of clicking 'Play'. I've determined that it's not the mod setup I was using and I've uninstalled and reinstalled 2 times since. I am at a loss. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help at all would be appreciated.

Try deleting the Oblivion.ini in My games/Oblivion.

WOW, thank you for your speedy reply! That worked perfectly, it's amazing! I still have to test it a little to make sure, but it seems you've solved my problem. It makes me feel almost silly for posting an entire topic about it :biggrin:
