Ending question : Fallout 3

So, I've already played through once, and i have the DLC's. What I'm wondering is, what happens if I have Broken Steel, but decide to activate the purifier myself? Will Broken Steel happen?

Nothing special happens. Activate the purifier yourself or not, you still get to play BS.

With BS, it doesn't kill you, it just knocks you out for 2 weeks.

It killed me. I had to load from the previous save and let Sara do it.

But maybe that's because I wasted too much time trying to get Fawkes to go in and do it. The oaf just stood there.

While with the vanilla game it does kill you, with BS installed Sara 'rescues' you quickly enough that the BoS are able to save your life even though it also inflicts potentially lethal radiation poisoning on Sara as well.

The only thing you can change is adding the Modified FEV Virus, which just takes away Karma when you give water to people from the Purifier.

The ending slides after you activate the purifier tell you you're dead, but you should then wake up after the slides stop. You will think you're dead at first.

If you died for real, then you didn't have the DLC installed properly.

I love that. The game tells you you're dead (not big surprise :heavy) and then you're not....

But if it doesn't, make sure that a. the DLC is properly installed and b. that it's active and loaded.
