Pete Hines said that they definitely intend to eventually develop more than just one Fallout game. And if they didn't, why would they buy the whole rights to the franchise and not just keep the license for three Fallout games they had?
I agree. I'm just saying, it's not like anyone gone on the record and held a press conference to say "We are now working on Fallout 4, this is what it's going to be called, and this is our projected timeline." ie, there's a bit of a difference between "yeah, I intend to do this, at some point, probably," and "we are now doing this - this is what we're doing. Right now."
If it's as "next-generation" as Fallout 3 is to Fallout 2, I think I'll pass. The only thing that got me interested in the franchise again (and got me to register in this forum) is Obsidian's involvement in the franchise. I'd love it if Bethesda focused solely on Elder Scrolls and outsourced all future Fallout projects to Obsidian, which is why I hope that New Vegas will sell great and get great reviews.
Not that I necessarily disagree with you all that much - but isn't that sort of counting your eggs before they hatch? We don't really "know" anything defininte about New Vegas, beyond that Obsidian's making it; and that they're basically using the tech from Fallout 3 as a jumping-off point. I have some hopes for it, I think it's coming from a good pedigree. But I'm not going to wish for Bethesda to simply hand over the license to another company simply because of a game that I haven't even seen a screenshot of yet; much less have any idea of it's quality.
