Weapon poisoning

Post » Tue Sep 28, 2010 5:00 am

I'm sure everyone is sick of the oblivion poison system in which you have to poison every arrow and every strike. I think they did it because they were lazy and didn't want to spend time on making it sophisticated.

My suggestion is to make poison an equipable item. once you equip it, every shot and strike will be poisoned with it. however the poison might run out after a certain number of arrows or strikes.

I don't think it'll unbalance the enchantment feature, though. because poison effect is slow while enchantment effect is fast. with the added enchantment skill you can now charge your own weapon without spending money.

Why is it every post I see of yours it's always accusing Bethesda of being lazy or being are bad at something... As for the poison on the weapon topic, they were trying out a system, they might have come around this time and made it where the poison runs out after so many strikes instead of just one. As for spending money on something else. It's not like in the VGI that you dish out so much money for each feature... I mean, you know how long it takes me to mod in a similar effect? 15 sec. Not much money to waste. It just uses the same system as enchanting and the duration is set to expire when you strike.

I agree with u 100% thats one of the many things i didnt like of oblivion.A timer or certain number of strikes for posions seems like a much better idea.

I think both timer and number of strike should be used. the timer prevents the weapon from turning into an enchanted weapon. So after you equip the poison bottle, you have say 60 seconds to use it or it'll "oxidize", lol

or if you don't want the equipable potion approach, you can still apply the whole bottle to the weapons. If it's melee, then it oxidizes after a certain time, and if you sheath it then the poison is smeared off. If it's arrow, you can choose how many arrows you can poison, and it'll create a new stack of arrows named "poisoned arrow".

1. Not sick of it. Second part: No.
2. Instead of making it an equipable item, make it one that only uses a certain amount of dosage per attack. You still have to inventory/hotkey to get it on every attack, but it lasts longer.
3. Ever hear of soul trap? It's a spell in Oblivion that charges soul gems so that you can recharge your enchantments. They also had it in Morrowind if you must know. I'm beginning to wonder if you know what The Elder Scrolls even is.

1: Wrong. Zenimax is privately owned.

2: And also... ad hominem much?

I would much rather have several uses on the bottle and when you poisen arrows maybe have it be in sets of 5. And i would hate a timer, i want to have a poisoned weapon stashed away incase i need it later, the less i end up carrying around on me the better :).

if its 10pts on hit then i do :D. (obviously that 10 would only work at a certain level, and it should be scaled accordingly =p )

I'd much prefer the posion having 'doses' so that for example one dose posions ten arrows or something along those lines
