Scaling different body parts of an NPC

Post » Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:25 am

No, and don't expect any, I'm currently doing other stuff, this kinda thing just isn't fun to me, so I'll probably put it off for a while.

I nearly had a pudgy and a muscly animation finished, but I just can't gather the willpower to finish them off at the moment.
@Axel: I've been wondering this for a while, do you know if scale rotation works fine for morrowind, with exporting and all that. If so, I could go crazy with non-uniform scaling, and fat people would be a breeze to do.
Also I'm not using Liztails anim kit. This definitely is not something I think should be applied as the base for morrowind, it is a bit of fun, and a very messy workaround.

Nope, I've got lots of other stuff to do.

Maybe later, but for now this isn't really something I want to do, and Morrowind needs other things improving first.
The technique is there if anyone wants to use it, it works fine, if you can animate even slightly you can do this, though it seems no one else is interested in giving it a go (however it sounds like the option is only open to max users with decent PC's, which is a pretty small number).

Also if you don't keep the upper body in proper proportion, you'll also need to edit a couple of idles, two handed anims, bows etc., so try to avoid that (it's pretty easy to).

It's funny how quickly this was forgotten.
Dirnae, it's a stretch(ha) but would it be possible to get a posture proportions similar to http://www.sfxman.com/public_html/cgi-bin/datasfx1/godzilla/gzla_002.jpg?

No. This method only effects the scale of the various body parts. I does not, in anyway effect animations.

i think he was hoping he could make the arms small, and the legs big or something? to go with the head he made

Yep, main thing is the how laughably undersized the head/neck area is. I can't possibly release it like http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/1135/37052747.png can I? A more horizontal posture would be nice, but I can live without it.

I wonder why Antares didn't make use of this in "Animated Morrowind" since he was already applying anims

Anyone else tried this? Dirnae seems to be away and I could use a little more explanation of how to go about this.

What exactly are scale animations/how to "add them"?

You coulda just pmed me. :P

Honestly, it's been god knows how long since I messed with this, you'd probably be better off making a creature instead (it'd look waaaaaay coooler).
If you're using Blender you might not be able to work with such a large animation file easily, either. If you have any questions, hit me up with a pm.
