Is Deathclaw Gauntlet still a viable weapon?

Is Deathclaw Gauntlet still a viable weapon in v1.7? I heard that as of 1.5 it was no longer ignoring damage resistance. I want to use it for my unarmed build on very hard difficulty.

I found a http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11008, but due to its limitations, I prefer not to use it unless Deathclaw Gauntlet is useless otherwise. Has anyone tried this mod?

Note that I have a non-English version of the game, so the unofficial patch (even if it fixes the problem) is not an option for me.

hmmmm... I have a very simple theory: If it is bigger or hairier than you are... kill it with fire.

Well, that's a good theory. Unfortunately, it does not answer my question. Any idea about whether the Deathclaw Gauntlet is still a good weapon in the game or would I be better off using something like Fisto instead? I've never played the game and still waiting for it in the mail, so I have no way of testing it out myself.

The DC Gauntlet is the best unarmed weapon in the game. It has a 5x Crit Chance compared to Fisto's 1.5. Does higher critical damage then Fisto. Fisto only has a slightly higher base damage of 25 to DC's 20, and yes if you want the benefits of ignoring damage resistance you will need to find a mod to fix it, or fix it yourself Hope this helped :)

Thank you, DopeSickKid. It does help. I just wanted assurances that Deathclaw Gauntlet is still the best unarmed weapon in the game after patch 1.5. If it is still a good enough weapon without a mod, I'll happily build my first character around it in my first playthrough.

On that note, if someone knows a mod for the Gauntlet, other than the one I linked in my first post, please let me know.

As said the DCG is a very good weapon even without the IDR

I still prefer the unique knuckle dusters for their performance in VATS

With the Paralylizing Palm perk they make a knock out almost inevitable as opposed to just very likely

Thank you for the confirmation, Vatless. I am going to make my character with starting 9 agility, so hopefully the AP cost won't be a problem for me.
