interesting notes about the GI vid...

Post » Sun Oct 03, 2010 6:30 pm

around the 1:50 mark, there is a screen showing what looks to be a sketch of what "Crafting" weapons might look like in the game on the player screen.

1:53 mark shows that they are working on/have worked on stealth...

cakes, mushrooms, and potatoes are in - very important i know

"creation kit" is mentioned?

the picture at mark 2:38 shows a bear possibly eating a mammoth!.. and the player holding a sword and.. staff!!?

picture at 3:07 showing the meat concept art shows possibly a trunk of a mammoth.. not important but something we haven't seen in TES games so whatev

art at 3:09 shows a three eyed beast.. somewhat resemblant of a werewolf

3:26 shows early title screen

3:46 shows more wizards with possibly staves.. character or weapon labeled "Eye of Magnus"

The meat picture also shows 'Horker' meat. Looks like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Horker#Horkers making a return.

I'd say the Bear is standing over the Mammoth's corpse, and is standing up to see the person. Bear's wouldn't usually eat old animal carcasses would they? Not sure.

Oblivion's pause/title menu were changed slightly between it's initial showing at E3 and release. I expect it's a placeholder more than anything.

I need to re-watch the video but could the creature at 3:09 be a troll? IIRC they have three eyes in Oblivion.

Once I get a chance to give it a couple more views, I'll see if I can spot anything else to add to the list. Good work with this sooner.

Pretty sure mammoths were confirmed in the article. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they look like.

I think that is some sort of frost troll

Yeah they had a picture of a Horker in the concept art room.

That '3 eyed monster' you mentioned is most likely a troll.

It's either that or an Uderfrykte, I'm pretty sure they'll make a return.

Oh my god! How many times do we have to explain that trolls have 3 eyes and werewolves do not!?!?

With those meat pictures I saw Guar meat, Horker meat, and Mammoth meat. I couldn't really see the others that well.

The concept art with the bear over the mammoth suggests birds/carrion are a possible entry.

i was more interested in what looked like territory lines on the map. as we know skyrim is in civil war perhaps that could mean we have to interact with each of the major houses or side with one

edit: oh and Volcanic Tundra

That creature was a troll by the looks of it. As for that concept art; it seems there were carrion birds eating the mammoth then the bear came and scared them away when he looks up and roars at the player. Who is holding a short sword in his right hand and a STAFF in his left hand.

And judging from that dry erase board they really are working on making stealth better. It seems they are trying to implement a "Undetected" "Caution" "Detected" system which hopefully means no psychic guards. It also appears they are thinking about you auto-looting gold when you open corpses/containers.

Just because there is concept art, whiteboard writing or pictures of something in that video doesn't mean it will be in the game.

So many threads on the board right now with massive speculation and people saying things are "in" and "confirmed" based on pretty much word of mouth and some early concepts.

Really? I read it,but maybe it wasn't the whole thing? Oh well, I wonder how big they are compared to a full Grown Bighorner. Hopefully they're Karstaag sized.

Judging from that concept art they seem to be about 3x the size of that bear. So, even bigger then Karstaag :foodndrink:

Anyone notice the Azura statue at about 1:19? It looks great, I'd definitely buy a poster of that.

Maybe my eyes are broken, but I saw: Mammoth meat, Goat Meat, Venison, Horker Meat, Dog(?) Ribs and Horse(?) meat.

My guess is the three eyed creature is some form of troll, because I believe there's an image of a troll in the Game Informer article that got mistaken for a werewolf.

Just because there is concept art, whiteboard writing or pictures of something in that video doesn't mean it will be in the game.

That's of course true, I mean, I seem to recall a concept art image for Oblivion showing the designs of one of the arms, and the person in it had a spear, I don't think I need to say more, I also recall that in he concept art, the river ran through Leyawiin, with bridges crossing over it, contrary to how the city was designed in the actual game. It's important to remember that concept art might not always accurately reflect what we'll see in the game, the simple fact is that sometimes, things can change a lot in the transition between concept art and in-game models, and sometimes things shown in the concept art might not even make it into the game at all, the same is also true for the concepts written on the white board, they're concepts that Bethesda is considering putting in the game, not ones that have already been imeplemented. Now, you can speculate all you want based on these things, but taking them as confirmation of anything is unwise.

And judging from that dry erase board they really are working on making stealth better. It seems they are trying to implement a "Undetected" "Caution" "Detected" system which hopefully means no psychic guards. It also appears they are thinking about you auto-looting gold when you open corpses/containers.

The different levels of AI awareness for stealth there sounds pretty similar to Fallout 3 to me, where you had hidden, caution, and detected/danger.

Who is holding a short sword in his right hand and a STAFF in his left hand.

Well, we do already know that dual wielding is in, that image, if it reflects what the actual game is like, might suggest that staves will be one handed items though, which would actually make sense with the system they seem to be implementing for using spells.

I also noted one piece of concept are showing a humanoid figure with some green around it, I couldn't make out whether it was supposed to be glass armor or some sort of creature, though, but it looked kind of like green flames, so I'm leaning towards the latter.

Where is that Azura poster from? Is that concept art for Skyrim?
