Important question about uninsalling/reinstalling a mod

Post » Tue Oct 05, 2010 9:31 pm

Ok, so I have downloaded a few of my mods wrong because I am computer illiterate. I want to reinstall these mods and do it properly but I still have all the mod clutter from the mod I installed wrongly. I couldn't get rid of every texture and mesh that came with the mod because I could mess something up so I was wondering what to do.
Will Uninstalling morrowind get rid of all my mods?
You know what would be awesome? If every mod came with an installer like better bodies and wilderness sounds :P. It would make it easier for us computer dummies

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe uninstalling Morrowind would get rid of your mods. However, I also don't think it's necessary. Extra meshes, textures, etc. don't interfere with anything; they just don't get used. If a mod you later install correctly has meshes and textures with the same names as the ones you already have lying around, the new ones will overwrite the old (if the install process asks you if you want to overwrite something, say yes).

There's no need to uninstall the mod , just re-install over top of it and say 'Yes' to any file overwrites.

To remove all mods, just empty your Data Files folder. (except keep the Music folder, Video folder, Sound folder, Splash folder, Morrowind.bsa, Tribunal.bsa, Bloodmoon.bsa, and any MGE folders if you have them.)
To remove all the files associated with one mod, use http://www.mentalelfz.com/tesfiles.html.

And Morrowind.esm, Tribunal.esm and Bloodmoon.esm. Can't go without those. I think you also need to keep the Music file.
