Installation Freeze

So I was able to beat the game the first time around, Wild Card path, and started a new game in hardcoe mode. After reaching level 23 the freezing was getting too ridiculous. Opening containers, loading scripts, going into VATS, bringing up the pip-boy, anything and everything I did would result in the game freezing up. I also experienced a few XMB menu crashes, where the screen just would go black and then the ps3 menu would load up. So I thought maybe my game would play better if I deleted everything and re-installed it, keeping only my saves.

Just for the record, I preordered from Gamestop, and therefore one of the data files was the Classic Pack, French and US versions. I experienced the same problems as others when trying to mod the weathered 10 mm pistol, it simply cannot be done. This was one of the files I deleted.

After reinstalling the update and DLC (classic pack) the game was the next thing. At 85% complete it froze, and stayed that way for about half an hour until I turned it off. I tried to do it again after deleting everything (again), and when the game loaded up it said "there was an error launching the game 800102b" or something like that.

Anyway, I restored the file system in safe mode and tried agin, with the same results, rinse and repeat. So now I'm waiting to hear back from Bethesda's "next level of support" after some difficulties in explaining what the issue I had with the game was. For something I put $140 canadian into for the Collector's edition game & guide, I'm very disappointed. Last we heard on updates was Nov 18, and they were doing "finishing touches".

If anyone has any suggestions on what I could do to get the stupid thing to at least install I'm all ears. I deleted all my save data as well, and that still doesn't help. I can't just keep installing hoping that it won't freeze again, or I'll end up spending more money to fix my system.
