If TES Online was really released...

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:00 pm

Yeah, I'm sure I know where this poll is gonna go before I even hit the 'post' button. But I thought I'd post it anyhow for grins and giggles. If ya'll wanna say why you wanna start/be from those regions feel free... but do not flame! Now as to the limited selections I thought I would just limit it to places the games started out from (well, just those 3, as they're the most popular).

If it contains the phrase "online" or "multiplayer" in the subject, then it almost always ends up being redirected to the official thread.

I guess we'll find out eventually, though.

I'd start in Morrowind because I am very familiar with that region. I would probably spend time exploring and watching what they've changed (and I would probably curse them and hate them for it :P)

I would only play it if it wasn't pay to play. I don't want to waste money to play the same crap over and over again, only thing different being my level number is higher. But I doubt I'll play longer than a few months.

and just for clarification; Elder Scrolls MMO - Fine I don't care. But I don't want the Todd's team to work on it. They're doing a great job with the Singleplayer games (my favorite) and they should continue doing what they're good at.

Isn't Elder Scrolls and MMO an oxymoron?

Sure, I'd play it, if only to try it out.

I think it's work much better in Daggerfall, because it's already set up for many different factions (although, so is Morrowind), but I think a bit more traditional setting would work well.

umm... not unless you have a different definition for Oxymoron (a contradiction in terms). TES, big game with a huge fanbase. MMO big game with lots of players... where's the contradiction?

Elder Scrolls is filled with lore and...scrolls. You would have to take them out for an MMO otherwise it would move far too slow.

I think a Co-op mode would be somewhat funner, and less competitive.

I have never played an MMO, mostly because all you do in it, is go kill some creatures get higher level and pay about it... i mean if Zenimax online finds a way to revolutionize MMO's and make it buy and play i would play it

not necessarily. Take FFxi for example (yes I know Final Fantasy series doesn't exactly have central lore in it) the core game has a certain lore in it referring to the crystal war (the back story of which is a bit hard to explain, so I won't even try) and every time SE had released a new expansion that acknowledge and, at times, expand upon it (the only real exception is the CoP storyline, which enough to confuse anyone). The entire game is full of lore which you can investigate at your leisure, but doesn't get in the way of game play or the player.

So it can be done.

I suspect Zenimax Online will create a whole new universe like Bioware did with Mass Effect. Matt Firor, head of Zenimax Online, was quoted as saying "With fantasy, this information is instantly known – for the most part – up front. Gamers know when they pick up a new fantasy MMO that it will be semi-medieval, will have magic and swords, and probably will have elves...when I want to experience an online world, there’s just something inherently comfortable about fantasy/medieval." (interview from two years ago)

He went on to say "To most MMO players I know, story is at best a tertiary concern, after mechanics, gameplay, and, for some, graphics."

I don't think I will ever play a MMO I have to pay for, far too boring.

If they made an MMO it would ruin TES.
