My problem with your original explanation is that if the 5000 went into the bank and stayed there, the character you earned it with would be level 1, not level 20.

Not really important though, I think G-Man is right to just compare it to currency, thats easiest way to put it.

He would still be lvl 20 since xp is not connected to characters, so any xp the character earns, whether lvl 10 or 20, isn't his xp - it's yours, the players.

No, I'm pretty sure that leveling up the character you are using comes out of the player's bank, that's where we disagree.

I've been saying that from the start - all xp goes into the bank, so any xp you use to lvl up characters comes from the bank.

Characters don't earn xp - the player does. Spend it how you want.
