Based on the story reveal, I think the possibility is there for the player to become the Emperor at the end. I would love to play as the future Emperor and found a new dynasty, rawr! I don't want to be the unsung hero this time. Can you imagine a Khajiit Emperor? That would be one pampered kitty hehe.

Having said that, in light of what others in this thread have pointed out about the difficulties handling the lore, I think it's highly unlikely.

Maybe become the king of Skyrim and choose whether or not to secede from the empire--but there again...lore alert! :facepalm:

Anything's a possibility with as little information that we have right now. I don't want it to be a possibility, but as it stands currently, it certainly is.

How would they handle the lore after it if they can't refer to the Emperor's name? Or if I play as a female character and there's an empress it wouldn't be able to be handled smoothly.

I think I'd read some people on these forums speculate that if the player character were to become Emperor, they'd change their name (if I recall correctly Tiber had a couple other names), and it may even be something gender/race neutral-the only issue then would be just how how the "history books" in future games will get around using pronouns for this particular emperor. lol

I'm certainly not saying they will do it, or even that it's likely, just that there are ways they could potentially pull it off.

Since we will be dragonborn, it is definately possible. Why not?

for th PC to be the emperor, we'd have to be the Dragonborn.


and if we are not, then New Emperor's body guard we may be, unless the option to be emperor's wife option is available forthe female pcs.....

It is true the Empire has a Emperor. But isn't it merely more out of necessity than anything else? It may be necessary for the last Dragonborn to become Emperor/Empress in order to restore peace and prosperity to Tamriel once more. Of course then the argument is where TES would go from Skyrim. More than likely the player will not become the ruler of the Empire, but it might make sense if he/she did.

maybe King/Queen though because of the plot in Skyrim

From the GI article Todd Howard says this about the Dragon Born " They're anointed by the gods. Thats why they can light the dragon fires and become an emperor. They kind of make the world whole"

I suspect we'll have multiple endings and I suspect one of them my be that you become ruler of Skyrim (this is just speculation mind). I'll reserve judgement on these concepts until I play the game. BGS may handle the idea really well.
