Using cover

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:06 pm

In several game play videos I have seen people leaning out from behind cover. I was wondering if this is still going to be in the final game. I really liked that in rainbow 6 vegas 2.

Can you give me a few links? Because I don't think I've seen that and I really would like to. :turned:

Yes. Paul said that you can lean around corners and over objects - it's also shown in vids.
Last I heard, on console, leaning in and out of cover is done by holding ironsights + left, right, or up on the Dpad to peek around.

I would probably assume that leaning to the left and right on the PC version is done with Q and E respectively.

I think however that Wake might be thinking that there is some form of cover system. This does not exist; however, leaning, as Awesome said, does, and should be sufficient for Brink.

I was hoping leaning on PC was done like how it was in W:ET - hold the use key and hit left (A) or right (D.)

Cover should be done by "hugging the wall"

Leaning and Wall-hugging aren't the same (that being said, I like both systems).

Yeah, Vegas' cover system is too advantageous for the defensive player. At least in the older Rainbow Six games, leaning exposed a portion of your body allowing for you to be detected more easily. The only balanced way to blend a wall-hugging system with a lean system is to keep everything in a first person view as this would take away the defensive advantage as you would be blind when peeking from cover.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 had some really good bullet penetration. Usually you could just wallbang the guy covering behind something.
Also, if they'd pop out, the chance to get a headshot was really high.
And the fact that it moved into 3rd-person made them very vulnerable to surprising rush-attacks.
