Sort of re-installing, but with a snag.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:10 pm

So I wanted to start again, mod-wise, but the problem is, I've lost my MW disk, so I can't re-install. But I also can't remember which files are original MW files & which are mod files. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Vanilla folders for MWGOTYE?
I was just going to delete them all & create new ones under the same name, but I'd be missing the sounds & such.

Thanks in advance!

I think the usual recommendation in the case of a lost disk is to buy a new one. It's pretty cheap these days, I hear you should be able to find it on ebay for about the price of one dinner out.

Trying to figure out which files were from the original and which have been added or replaced by a mod could be a lot of work, depending on how thorough you want to be. I don't know of anyplace where you could get a copy of all the original morrowind folders, that doesn't sound possible.

You could try just removing the extra .esp/.esm files added by mods, and live with the extra resource files the mods added to your Data Files. They won't hurt anything by being there, just take up a little extra space.

See, problem with that is I haven't a penny to my name. So I was hoping someone would be kind enough to upload a copy onto rapidshare or something. Not the game, just the basic textures, meshes ect.

Or is that still too illegal?

Edit: Oh yeah, and the reason I want to wipe all the mod files out, is because something is causing a small conflict in my game. Water is now a white strobe light during the day. I can play, but it's quite annoying.
There are a couple of other little things like this too, so I thought I might as well re-install. Then I found out my Morrowind Box that I'd taken so much care off, for just this situation, was missing the disk. Bummer.

So yeah, lil' help?

Sounds like it would be to me.

All the vanilla textures and meshes are in the .bsa files. Surely you still have those, right? You should be able to revert your meshes and textures just by deleting the files in the "Meshes" and "Textures" directories. Be careful when deleting anything, of course.

I think we can close this: the OP has what he needs, and we won't countenance anybody making illegal uploads of Morrowind files.
