Making Fallout Fresh

Post » Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:02 pm

I started at character that is, right now, level 9. But as of this weekend, I have been playing exclusively on PC...got the best performance I've ever gotten in Fallout ever...

The rules I follow on my new account are.

1) 3 guns, 4 grenades, 2 mines. 1-Primary Weapon, like an assault rifle or combat shotgun, and 2 secondary guns, like 2 pistols.

2) No HUD, is very fun. Now I actually use the Pipboy Stats page. I don't need a crosshair because I know where the middle of the screen is.

3) No VATS unless I have a Recon or Power Helmet.

4) Starting Endurance of 1 and maximum starting Strength of 4.

5) Strength requirement for guns. Weight / 2, round up = str. req.

Example: 7 pound gun / 2 = 3.5, round up = 4 str. Requirement

All Big Guns require a strength of 9, no matter the weight.

6) No perfect stats. No 100 skills, no 10 specials.

7) Subtract 80 pounds from carry weight. You get this 80 pounds back when wearing Power Armor.

Survival:

1) No using beds to "Sleep" (aka, magically heal large wounds and crippled limbs), you must sleep once a day, resting or "waiting" is considered to be this. If you do not sleep for 3 days in a row, reload previous save, you have died from exaustion.

2) You must eat and drink once a day. Going without food and water for 3 days will also kill you.

3) No combat repairs. To make sure there is no combat, try to wait. If it says there are enemies nearby, no repair.

4) Do not sleep in areas that are commonly visited by shady people or any basic strangers, as they will most likely rob you, or kill you in your sleep. Survival of the Fittest. If you need to sleep in the wasteland, sleep in an abandoned building, or in a structure that is sheltered from wasteland critters, wastelanders you don't trust, and all of, or most of, the elements.

5) Do not spend a whole day in the sun, seek shelter in an interior, or in the shade and wait for an hour or two. Otherwise you will die from heat exhaustion.

Power Armor Rules:
PA= Power Armor
RA= Recon Armor

1) To wear PA, you must have a full suit of Recon Armor. Example: If I want to wear a PA helmet, I need a Recon Armor Helmet.

Only exception is Enclave Power Armor. All others follow this rule.

2) VATS is enabled when wearing a PA or RA helmet.
VATS systems need 5 seconds to recharge.
RA helmet allows for 2 seconds in VATS.
PA helmet allows for 5 seconds in VATS.

3) When wearing PA, strength requirements are disabled.

4) 30 MicroFusion cells must be in your possession at all times when wearing PA.

5) A second suit of identical PA is allowed to be in your possession to act as "Repair Parts".

6) To repair PA, drop both sets of PA. Helmets and suits. Wait one hour. Take both suits back, repair.

Triage Rules and Restrictions:
If your medecine skill is 75 or higher, do not throw away any items.

To heal a crippled limb you need:

1) 1 Med-X / Morphine needle

2) 2 Stimpaks

3) Medical Brace

Use Morphine. Next, inject 1 stimpak. Wait one hour. Use other stimpack. Use Medical Brace (Throw away)

If your body is crippled, you must have:

1) 3 stimpaks

2) Surgical Tubing

3) 2 Med-X / Morphine needles

VARIABLE-4) Tweezers (If you were shot at, to remove bullets)

Use Morphine. Apply stimpak to chest. If you were shot at, use a pair of tweezers to pull out bullet casings (Do not throw away). Use surgical tubing (throw away). Use Morphine to pull through. Apply another two stimpacks to heal the remaining damaged tissue. (If the two stimpacks fully restored your body's health, use the third stimpak by itself)

In case of HEAD INJURIES:
If you are not a highly skilled doctor, do not attempt to perform these steps and go see a doctor.
(Basically, if your medicine skill is not 80 or up, you cannot do this by yourself)

Needed tools and materials:

1) 1 stimpak

2) 1 Morphine needle

3) Surgical Tubing

4) Scalpel

5) If your medicine skill is not 90, you must have a "DC Journal of Internal Medicine" to guide you through the complicated procedures.

Refer to the DC Journal of Internal Medecine (Optional, you can either use it with procedure and get the +1/2 to medecine, or keep it for further surguries) Use the 1 morphine needle. Use surgical tubing (throw away). Use the scalpel to remove dead tissue, and then, lightly apply the stipack to the four corners of your skull. Do not throw away scalpel but instead, use a sink to wash away blood and infected dead tissue before reusing.

New Vegas is coming out in less than a month. Make a house of cards until that comes out, or something.

Give me some ideas to make Fallout truly fresh again. Keep in mind this is on console, not PC because my PC version does not currently work.

Role Play a "midget" character... I know you can't be a real small person but call yourself a GIANT Midget.
