The Rockland Rescue

I would join, but I'm hesitant about my character because he'll SORT OF be a ghoul. When I say SORT OF, I mean he would be a ghoul in the sense that he's pre-war and mutated. He also may be a bit uber, but I can definitely dumb him down.

It does not matter if he is a Ghoul, I was just joking about that, but yeah if you still want to join go a head.

Name: Subject 3, Marko Steinbech, 'Shawks'
Age: He estimates 28-32
Race (Ghouls Allowed): Male, Canadian, Vault-tec test subject

Appearance: Marko is the picture of health in a land that is otherwise barren of such things. He stands about 6'4" and weighing a healthy 225 lbs. His hair is a dirty blond, which is kept generally short and unstyled, but at a glance it seems well-kept and clean. Marko has a well-kept beard at the moment, but more often than not his face is clean-shaven. Marko has a sturdy frame, though not barrel-chested, he has a visible amount of muscle, and not a touch of fat around his gut. His skin is white, with only a hint of the wasteland sun. His face is smooth and healthy, like the rest of his body, with a visible jawline and humble features. His eyes are ice-blue, and are usually the first thing you notice about him. His smile is warm and inviting, and all who have met him have never seen Marko have a dreary day. To sum all of it up, a handsome Canadian.

Weapons: Combat Shotgun (with a sharpenened lawnmower blade welded to the bottom to create a makeshift bayonet, also the loading chamber is modified to be belt-fed, though the firing rate is still the same), A http://www.anythingxtreme.com/pimages/g/Gun-TP-A5St.jpg (modified to shoot small sharpened or serrated metal squares which fly by spinning in the air and can hit a target with surprising accuracy with a range of up to 3/4 of a mile (1/4 less than the Sniper Rifle), also has a Sniper Scope attatched on the top, has a rapid fire mode which fires about at the same rate as an Assault Rifle). Also carries a light-weight Riot Shield, which can effectively block and deflect smalls arms fire and grenades from a certain distance.
Armor/Clothing: Marko can usually be found in well-maintained jet black combat armor with a red maple leaf over the vault-tec company emblem on the right shoulder of the armor. He also wears a http://www.paintball-online.com/shop/view_big.asp?number=GGDI4RDLQ&variation=&picnum=1 with a visor display screen scavenged off of an enclave prototype combat helmet( the visor display screen is essentially a Pip-boy, with the same features, minus V.A.T.S.). He also wears heavy leather boots, a tight-fitting black shirt, loose pants, a black and red glove on his right hand with hard leather plating over the back of the hand and inbetween the finger knuckles, and a bandolier of shotgun ammunition is slung over his shoulder.
Misc. Items: A well-preserved Canadian flag folded neatly and tucked under his combat armor, a Holotag with the name "Marko Steinbech" engraved on it, a piece of dirty cloth torn from the back of a Vault-Tec issued shirt with the number 100 stitched on it, a leather bag containing mercenary contracts, bobby pins, a few hastily drawn maps for specific locations, a small notebook and pencil, and 52 caps.
Total Combined Weight: Roughly 77 lbs

Specialty (Hacking, Lockpickin', etc): Marko is a 'jack of all trades' guy, he has no prominent skill, but he doesn't struggle with any either. Because of this, he isn't very much of a specialist, but can be counted on to complete any task with considerable profficiency. However, Marko is very rescourceful and creative, and he constantly seeks ways to create, improve, and enhance his weapons, armor, clothing, and every day utilities.

Bio: To know Marko, you must first know the vault he was born in. Vault 100 was unusually small, and could only hold a maximum of 80 citizens at one time. Another thing that was extremely unusual for a vault was the fact that the citizens knew that the vault was built for expiremental use, and what's even more surpising is the fact the citizens accepted it. Vault 100 was created in order to genetically engineer a super-survivor, a human altered with the single purpose to survive post nuclear holocaust. What might be even more stunning is that the experiments met 100% success, in fact, it was so successful that the project continued to function even after the citizens were decimated after water from the Potomac flooded the vault, those who were able to enter the emergency flood room soon died of starvation, due to the fact the water pumps never began to function until a month after the flood. Now, you may be wondering how the test subjects survived. Call it the will of God, or perhaps a stroke of luck, but only days before the flood, scientists completed the last of the modifications to the test subjects and placed each in freeze-chambers, or primitive chambers that allowed humans to freeze themselves, immune to the affects of time until the set amount of time on the chamber was reached. Now, let's focus back on Marko, or Subject 3 as he was known in the vault.
Subject 3 was raised like any vault child, except for the fact that his school taught him how to survive post-nuclear war, also, he was never given a name, he was also never allowed to know his own age. Subject 3 grew an understanding of how the world would be even before the bombs fell. At the age of 10, scientists put Subject 3 into an induced coma, to allow the scientists to genetically alter him, giving his body certain attributes and chemicals that normal humans lacked. Once the alterations were complete (with stellar success, scientists later noted), Subject 3 was awakened from his coma a year later. School taught him how to control the new chemicals and alterations his body had been forced upon, and at the age of 17, all of the Subjects were placed in deep freeze chambers. However, scientists found a way to enhance the survival rate of the subjects further, and they did so with a tiny memory chip placed inside each subject's brain. Two subjects were released after 100 years, a male and female, as they survived the wastes, the memories they collected were stored on the chip. Once both of the subjects died, the memories were transferred to to next pair, who were simultainiously released after the death of the previous two subjects. Confused? So am I.

Subject 3 (Marko) was released two days after Subject 2 died after two months of horrible imprisonment at a Slaver camp, her super-survivor partner died holding off the Slavers which captured her. Unlike the last two releases from the chambers, Subject 4 was never released due to damage dealt to the timer of her freeze-chamber, and a failsafe ended her life inside the chamber. The loss of his would-be partner strained the alterations made to his DNA, causing him to feel compassion, which the alterations previously prevented him from feeling. After mourning for a slight amount of time, Subject 3 took the dispensed weapons and provisions the Vault was required to give him, including a Holotag that gave him the name his parents would have named him, "Marko Steinbech"

Marko then exited the Vault using his Holotag, and entered the wastes with the sounds of the great vault doors closing and sealing itself from the outside wastes. Marko grew up to become a mercenary who took on contracts from those in need, usually refusing any rewards as long as the job was for a just cause. Obviously, Marko gladly accepted the "Rockland Rescue" contract, refusing the reward.

Genetic Alterations: Since Marko was built to be a super-survivor, Vault-tec scientists had to reconfigure his DNA to meet the challenges of the wastes. Here are a list of the alterations.

POSITIVE ALTERATIONS/AFFECTS

- He feels no pain, but he can sense injury
- His basic senses (except for touch) are noticably enhanced
- He is able to utilize all of his muscle mass at one time (which normal humans are incapable of doing) without injuring himself. This means he is roughly 3x and strong as the average human. He also can restrict the use of muscle, to conserve energy.
- He is able to survive approximately 3 weeks without food, and 2 and a half weeks without water
- His resistance to radiation almost equals that of a ghoul, however he is not healed or restored by radiation.
- His lifespan is approximately 200 years

NEGATIVE ALTERATIONS/AFFECTS

- The Subjects were designed to lack compassion, but somehow Subject 3 broke the alteration, and his morals are very strong, meaning he will not harm an innocent being, and he tends to fall for any sob story he encounters
- Though he is comfortable in a group setting, he does not function well with others under pressure, such as in battle
- The chemicals used in creating the super-survivor conduct electricity very well, and leads to a comical result whenever Subject 3 tampers with electrical equipment, or walks near exposed electricity. Because of this reason, energy weapons always end up broken in his hands.
- Scientists predicted that a population decrease would be a problem in the apocolypse, so the Subjects were altered to be very... fruitful. Subject 3 is not able to resist this alteration, and whenever he meets a person of the opposite six, he becomes a bit of a charmer. His disposition towards women can sometimes lead to emberassing or even dangerous results.
- A chemical in his body metabolizes any foreign substance with incredible speed, this was supposed to act as a guard against poison and some disease, but now that most of the poisonous threats on the world have been incinerated, the function is useless. Whenever a drug or alcohol is administered, there are no affects on him. Stimpacks and similar medical drugs are useless as well.
- Though you would expect differently, Subject 3 is not an android, and has no super mechanized powers, and he has no mechanical assistance, such as bionic eyes or iron fists.

(AUTHOR'S NOTE: This character has been approved by Josh. The weapons are not uber, just creative, as well as the modified helmet. The paintball helmet is made of flexible plastic, and the visor is hardened and layered plastic, the paintball marker is obviously pre-war, and is considered primitive in the current setting.

Though Marko is immune to pain, this does not mean he is immune to injury, being shot in the head is the same result with or without pain- instant death.

I have RP experience, and I intend to reveal other genetic alteration flaws in the future

If you have a concern about how I RP, please feel free to contact me, I will be glad for the input or warnings)

EDIT: That was worth about 4 hours
