Custom Class Description

Post » Mon Oct 25, 2010 6:03 pm

Hello everyone,

Anyways, I bought this game years ago and remember being able to input a custom text for my custom class. I'm trying to create a Ninja again and it won't let me input any custom text. Am I perhaps missing something or did they make it so you can no longer do this? And if so.... is there a way around it?

Thanks,
Grim

Perhaps your chosen skills are the same as their standard class? I can input a custom class every time....

Yeah, but I mean input the DESCRIPTION for the custom class.
Used to, when you finished your custom class, it had a little text box where you could describe the class.
Now it doesn't.
There has to be a way to edit it.
I mean... why in balls would they take that out?

sux big time. I really enjoy writing the basics of what makes the class dreaded or respected, etc...

These small details help the gamer immensely. They make the character a little more alive, imo. I'd also love to be able to create a character bio, as well as some history of the artifact we are creating (remember when u get some cool artie in Arena, the little story behind it?).

What i think u can do is use the Construction Set to create a paper, scroll or book with these info. Not the same thing but better than nothing?

Maybe so, but I'm pretty sure it was in Oblivion too.
The reason why I say this is because I have a specific memory of doing this on the phone with my ex-girlfriend Kim.
The custom class at that time was a Paladin.

So... yeah.

Oh well... for some odd reason I'm liking this Dark Elf Nightblade of The Thief. So nevermind the Ninja for now.

I've never seen what you are talking about, only reasonable explanation is that it was taken out in an early patch for some strange reason, or you are mixing up games.
But would be cool if it was in Oblivion

There has to be a way to edit it.

The only way I have found to do this is to edit an existing class. Open the construction set and from the menu navigate to Character>Class. From the list on the left click on a class you are not going to play. On the right you will be able change its name and write a new description in the "Full Name" and "Description" boxes. A side benefit to all of this is that you can also choose the Primary Attributes, Specialization and Major Skills for your class while you're at it, saving yourself time during chargen. ;)

Minor correction to that. You don't have to replace an existing class with your custom one.
In the class list in the CS, right click on any class name and select 'New' which will allow you to craft a custom class from scratch without replacing any of the pre-existing classes.

Yep, this is how I did it, Jeni.

I downloaded the CS and as soon as SAW the class edit screen sirens went of. They said, "Hey DUMMY! This is how you did it!"

Sorry guys.. lol but I knew I did it somehow.

Mission Complete!

Methinks you are remembering Morrowind's character creation.

Not at all.
I specifically checked my corrections to Pseron Wyrd's post, in the Oblivion TESCS, immediately before posting.

Yeah, I've been doing it again.
It works great.

You guys wanna hear my new custom class?
ok...

Anyways..

Name: Ygdryxac Ix'talok
Race: Dark Elf
Birthsign: Atronach
Class: Harbinger
Description: Warriors from the distant past called back from death to once again
play a part in the history of Tamriel. A truth unknown even to themselves.
Awakening into the world lost in a place they vaguely remember at a time they've
never known. Striking fear in the hearts of others, they are the heralds of fate and
the bringers of death...

Cool huh? ^_^

No. It sounds like one of the best computer games ever created: Planescape: Torment.

Well, then I hate you Hairdo Galosh Jam and I love you Pseron Wyrd.

lol

Anyway...

That's funny it reminds you Planescape: Torment. I loved that game too.

If I were psychoanolyze my creation in order to pull out the influences...

The name pretty much comes from EverQuest.
The birthsign I chose for a specific reason and style I want to force myself to play.
The class I chose because I want it to fit the beginning start point of the prisoner and the persona I wish to have overall in the rest of the game.
Why I chose it? A deeper meaning? Vanity I guess. But in a good way. I guess I wanted to somehow give appropriate stature to the ideal hero of the game while being somewhat true to the aesthetic of my character.
Hmm.. I'll have to take a shot of him and post it later.

I just started a new game the other night. When the guard asks you what class you are (and gives his opinion of what you should be) there was an option to hit X (on 360) for custom class. I just made my Argonion, Sonia, a Dark Mage.
